Striker Danny Haynes and keeper Shane Supple have both been forced to pull out of international squads after picking up injuries in the home game with Sheffield Wednesday. Haynes will miss the midweek England U19 game with Switzerland and Supple a Republic of Ireland B friendly with Scotland.

Supple ended the game with a groin strain, while Haynes came off before the break with a hip problem.

If Supple's problem isn't OK by next weekend, the Blues would be forced to give Czech keeper Jaroslav Drobný a debut in next Sunday's East Anglian derby, with Lewis Price still sidelined due to his rib injury. Boss Jim Magilton has indicated that the former Fulham man could be offered a longer term deal when his current monthly contract is up.

Midfielder Mark Noble ended the final appearance of his loan spell early due to a knee injury. The West Ham man told the club site he was disappointed to complete his three months by picking up the knock: "I was gutted to come off but I've seen the physios and they think that it's not too serious.

"I was even more gutted that we lost because we had some great chances in the first half when we should have wrapped the game up.

"It's strange, we played so well at Burnley and we passed the ball well during the first half, but the second half was a different story. A couple of set-plays have let us down. The boys have got to get on the training ground and put that right.

"I'd really seriously think about coming back to Ipswich, but my priority is to get in to the West Ham first team. If, however, that doesn't happen I'll be on the phone to the gaffer here.

"I've loved my time at Ipswich and been really happy, it's a great place. I'll be sad to go but I'm looking forward to the challenge of pushing for a place in the Hammers' first team."

Noble cannot return to the Blues until the transfer window reopens in January, while other Championship clubs are also thought to be interested in loaning the England U19 international if West Ham want to send him out for the second half of the season.
