New Club Tribute to Sir Bobby

Town are to rename the Galleria facility in the Greene King Stand the Sir Bobby Robson Suite in honour of the club president and former boss. A ceremony will take place on May 5th.

Robson told the club site he was delighted with the tribute: "I was proud when the club erected a statue of me outside the ground, and I am just as proud to have the Galleria named after me.

"I will raise a toast to an amazing football club for giving me another honour."

Robson and the 1978 FA Cup-winning side will be back in Suffolk on May 5th celebrating the 30th anniversary of the victory over Arsenal. The Galleria ceremony will be followed by an event commemorating the cup win at the Town Hall.

Meanwhile, current boss Jim Magilton has backed former Blue Geraint Williams to bring Colchester back into the Championship if, as expected, they are relegated this season: "George's character will see them through whatever lies ahead.

"Even if they do get relegated, he's certainly the man to bring them back up. There's absolutely no question of that.

"The club are on the threshold of something very big. They've got a fantastic new ground on the way, they're very much on the up and he would definitely deserve the chance to get them back in the Championship."

Elsewhere, keeper Nick Colgan says he is keen to win himself a longer deal with the Blues. The Irishman joined the Blues on a short-term contract until the end of the season in January.
