No Fortuna Extra-Time

Saturday’s friendly against Fortuna Düsseldorf will now not have an additional 30 minutes following the initial 90.

The clubs initially planned to play extra-time regardless of the scoreline at full-time in order to give more players time on the pitch, however, this will not now happen. The game will be 90 minutes followed by a penalty shootout.

More than 13,000 supporters are expected to attend Fortuna’s first ever game at Portman Road, among them around 500 visiting supporters.

Doc_Albran added 16:44 - Jul 25 Not sure they charged extra on the grounds there would be extra time. Plus a penalty shootout can take up to 30 minutes to sort out anyway, so doubt anybody will be crying into their bovril over it!

Positive_Vibes added 18:04 - Jul 25 I’m disappointed that we’re not having the extra time. I paid for Town TV to watch the last game expecting the extra time and I bought a ticket for this match based on the extra time, so just a little disappointed. Hopefully all the new signings will play and would be a nice surprise if they were able to announce another one on Saturday.

PortmanTerrorist added 18:44 - Jul 25 The fixture last Saturday was cut short, same this week. Must be a good reason but a bit cheeky esp if you have paid to watch all as has been mentioned. They should at least provide an explanation. Am unusual misstep by The Club

gosblue added 20:59 - Jul 25 I think I read that there were about 17000 tickets available. Still there are many teams that would love 13k during the season let alone a pre-season friendly in the middle of the holiday season.
