![]() Tuesday, 30th Dec 2008 09:17 Recent Town trialist Graham Gartland has joined Scottish First Division side St Johnstone on a free transfer from Drogheda. Gartland spent time with the Blues at the end of October and boss Jim Magilton was considering whether to offer the Irish B international a contract at Portman Road. St Johnstone boss Derek McInnes says he is delighted to make the signing: "Graham is someone I have seen in action on a couple of occasions over in Ireland and I also watched him when he played for the Irish B squad against Scotland at Rugby Park last season. "He has a reputation as a good, steady professional, he's athletic and has done very well in the Irish League in recent seasons.†Gartland was available on a free transfer after leaving financially stricken Drogheda in October and also spent time on trial with Leicester, Burnley and Nottingham Forest, while Rangers, Hamilton Academical, Kilmarnock, Elfsborg and Helsingborg had all also been linked with the 25-year-old.
