![]() Monday, 23rd Mar 2009 10:23 Feyenoord have pulled out of this summer's Fabian Wilnis testimonial. The Dutchman's home town club were due at Portman Road on July 25th. The Rotterdam side have changed their pre-season plans due to the Dutch league starting early next season in order to finish well before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Wilnis says he is now near to landing a Premier League side as Feyenoord's replacements: "It's a real pity. "Feyenoord were the team I supported as a boy so I've got a strong sentimental connection with them. "It would also have been great to have a top Dutch side in action at Portman Road. "But I'm still positive and myself and my testimonial committee are very close to getting a top Premier League side instead. "If it comes off, it'll be very exciting and should hopefully appeal to a lot of people.†Wilnis, now with Grays Athletic, was planning a match between the current Town and Feyenoord teams and then a 45-minute game involving ex-players from both clubs.
