Three in Northern Ireland Squads Monday, 28th Sep 2009 14:58
Central defender Gareth McAuley is one of three Town players to have been called up to Northern Ireland squads. The former skipper, who has won 19 caps and has scored one international goal, has been named in the senior squad for their World Cup qualifier in the Czech Republic on Wednesday 14th October.
The Northern Irish need to win to stand any chance of making next summer’s finals in South Africa.
Meanwhile, Town have two players in the Northern Ireland U17 squad playing two games against Greece in Athens this week.
Midfielders Josh Carson and Cormac Burke are included in the travelling party for the friendlies, one on Wednesday, the second on Friday, which are a warm-up for the UEFA U17 Championships in Andorra.
The Northern Irish youngsters face the hosts, Malta and Holland in the tournament which starts on October 22nd.

Although they need to win to stand any chance of qualifying, even a huge win isn't likely to help them We can safely assume that Slovenia will win in San Marino (50/1 chance that they don't) so Northern Ireland need to win by 5 more goals than Slovenia win by. The Irish winning by 5 or more would be a 1000/1 shot, so you're looking at a minimum of 50,000/1. And then you need Slovenia to lose in Slovakia (About evens). Even then, Poland could overhaul them, although not likely. If they manage that though, its easy. A play off against the likes of France, Russia, Republic of Ireland etc You can safely say that they are 500,000/1 to reach South Africa. If you still believe though, I understand that Ladbrokes are offering 8/1

Chances to win the national lotter 14,000,000/1 bet you buy a ticket once in a while! Personally I have had the pleasure of seeing "my wee country" qualify for 2 world cups, 1982 ( when the Dutch field a Z team in the final qualifying match) and 1986. I have supported them through our NOT goal scoring or winning records, and the day after we broke the drought by scoring aginst Norway in a 3-1 defeat I went to Norway. I have traveled to Baku from, and back again to, Mumbai in India to support "my wee country" so odds of 500,000/1 are rather good by our standards So I thank you for the excellent statistical input, but We're not Brazil We're Norn ireland We're not Brazil We're Norn ireland But it's all the same to me ULSTER

Come on the Green and White army. We all know Keane dose not like us but you know what Rot we don't like you either. A good player does not make a good manager and with a temper and attitude like his it's bound to be a diaster. KEANE OUT
