Keane Continuing Hunt for Loanees Friday, 2nd Oct 2009 10:18
Town boss Roy Keane continues to work on landing his two loan signings and now hopes to add his targets to his squad during the international break which follows Saturday’s game at Barnsley.
Keane said: “I’ve spoken to one or two managers in the last couple of days and in defence of the managers I’ve spoken to, they’re busy people themselves and it’s easier said than done.
“Nothing’s going to be done today, but we’ve got two weeks to play with after tomorrow ,with the international break, and we’re hoping for possibly two players. But there’s a long way to go with these deals yet because the clubs we are speaking to would be fairly reluctant. We’ll wait and see.
“I know there’s money available, I spoke to the owner again earlier on during the week. I’ve said we before, we could have £100 million to spend, but it’s trying to get the right players in.”
Keane says the delays in deals can be caused by a number of factors: “Sometimes it might be the demands of the player, the position the club are in, how busy the manager I’m speaking to is. There are lots of reasons.
“I have to be to quite understanding of the position we’re in and, trust me, there might be players not keen to come to a team near the bottom of the Championship.
“I understand that, but hopefully one or two players that we’ll speaking to will instead of seeing that as a downside, will see it as a big plus to come to a team that’s struggling and where they can come and play their part. It would help us, it would help them and we’ll all be winners."
Skipper Alex Bruce will again miss out due to the groin injury he suffered in last week’s game at home to Newcastle but should be OK after the international week.
Connor Wickham, who has also been suffering with a groin problem, will come back into Keane’s plans, along with Damien Delaney and Colin Healy, who were left out of the 18 at Sheffield United.

joshy i don't agree about priskin he aint had a regular partner up front we need to play him alongside pablo with walters playing out wide left in a 442 system that way we will hopefully see the best of our three strikers. i still beleive in RK give him time get behind him and the lads stop slagging them off like the rest of the partime morons and BELIEVE. I'm sure a few of our local Sunday League team players would play for Keane and probably make a better job of it than what Town have to offer at the moment. Only one snag though, they lost 12:2 last week, lol.

I haven't been on here for a while and reading some of the comments above reminds me why! What utter uninformed bollocks. Slagging priskin off. He was ok against the toon but talk about put in a shift at Sheffield. He ran his heart out as did Walters. I thought both deserved 10 out of 10 for effort as did most of the team. Listen kiddies you obviously don't go to the games so keep your crap comments to yourselves - it's really irritating.

bluewarrior - well said. There is a lot of uniformed rubbish written on these pages. However, I find the pro RK / anti RK mudslinging amusing. Why have people become so polarised? We are at the bottom of the table without a win and at times look a total shambles. What has RK done to inspire such blind faith in some people? On the other hand he is trying to rebuild a team and it will take time. It seems like some people dislike RK so much that they were never prepared to give him a chance, and are actually pleased that we are doing so poorly. Roy Keane is the manager of MY team and I want my team to do well so he will get my backing whether I like him as a manager or not, regardless of what I thought about him as a player or not. I just wish he would think a bit before talking to the press. "Its not having the money, its getting the right person". That would be Healy, Delaney and Martin then. Yes I know, he has made good signings in Leadbitter, Edwards and Priskin (who is class by the way. You don't get to win that many caps for your country by being crap). So stop bitching all of you and get behind the team. Because my big worry is not that Keane may walk away, but Marcus Evans could call it a day and take his money with him. So look at the positives and even if it all does go pear shaped, we will have the derby matches to look forward to again.

No lightningboy, I think we find it easy to shift the blame onto Roy, but when i see 11 players (with the exception of Walters and Leadbitter)every Saturday motivated by nothing but money, it makes me feel like since Marcus Evans joined the desire of this football club has disappeared. It is evident that we have been given to much money from someone who is un-identified and as a result we have been left with over payed players and a position at the bottom of the table, Marcus Evans could be a women for all we know and Keane has just been left with the result of our corruption.
