Begovic Out to Play Games
Begovic Out to Play Games

New loan signing Asmir Begovic says doesn’t intend to spend his three months with the Blues sat on the subs' bench. The Bosnian international could make his Town debut when Roy Keane’s side face Swansea at Portman Road on Saturday.

Portsmouth keeper Begovic says he doesn’t see his role here as providing cover for Richard Wright: “It’s down to the manager who he picks but my intention is to play. Wherever I am I want to play, whether that’ll be the case we’ll see.

“I’m really excited to be here. I know the stadium because I’ve been here before [as sub keeper with Portsmouth in the FA Cup in January 2008]. The training ground is fantastic, it’s a well run club which is Premiership level.”

The 22-year-old was withdrawn from the Bosnia squad which lost to Spain in their final World Cup qualifier last night to complete his move to the Blues, having made his international debut as a sub in the 2-0 victory over Estonia on Saturday.

Would be nice to see him start on Saturday - just to see what we've got if nothing else. Let's hope his goalkeeping sense is better than his fashion sense! lol

His fingers are a bit blrry holding the ball , so we still dont know if he actually caught this one - it might be camera trickery.

At last Roy ,you have signed a keeper who can put some pressure on Dickie, heard his back is giving him trouble from all the times hes had to pick the ball out of the net so far.

Ok, Ok so that's a reserve keeper for 12 weeks sorted! Pele has done some adverts, funny enough that was about balls too! So we gonna sign Pele too?

I see there's no Defender still and a game in 48 hrs! ummm

i like the sounds of this guy, very determined, very tall with aerial ability and if hes a good shot stopper he could be in for 1st place, dont get me wrong i like wrighty, hes kept us in as many games and lost for us but i think he has had a good run of form and he may be going down in his carrer now, so we need someone like this

He looks bright [as in sharp], R W has a bit of a Churchill the dog look about him .i have not had too many pos vibes from signings so far, this little deal could be a good one, get him on ,nothing to suggest we wont have to rely on last line of deffense yet . COYB. YEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAA

Even Churchill would be a better keeper than Dickie ,he was good but has been shyte for years

Sure we needed some back-up for Wrighty but talking about this guy starting on Saturday is crazy! Wrighty has made 1 or 2 errors this season but apart from that he's been our best player by a mile! Said it before, will say it again - did no one see the West Brom away game on Sky!? We need stability in areas we are fine in, not more change. Get a loanee CB already FFS...

Jay, what do you mean one or two errors this season? I'm not going to lie and say he hasn't kept us in many games, but lately he's had more than one or two mistakes. Also Leadbitter has been our best player all season and will continue to be.

I like the look of this guy, Young, Tall, Determined to play. Only thing he can do is push Wrighty for his place and show us what he's got.

Yeah, great logic there! Thats exactly what they all say but it never happens...Richard Wright is too good.

What's the point in bringing in a new keeper when we have got the best one in the league. Instead he should be looking for a better defence.

As much as I like Wrighty I wouldn't agree that he's the best in the league, he's good when he's on his game but we need better, its not just the defence thats been shaky this season and if neither our defence or keeper have faith that each will do their job then the situation will just get worse, there is nothing worse than seeing team mates go fo the same ball or argue who should or shouldn't have gone. Wrighty needs time to get his confidence back and the competition can only be a good thing. Stop conceding the goals and we'll win matches - simples!

If the boy is good enough - then a) that's why he's here and b) let him play games. Ricjard Wright - last year's Supporters Player of the Year - can be superb. When he was first with us, he won a lot of games on his own with some world class saves. We won at Stockport County one time - a 1-0 win, a superb chipped goal by Dyer - but is was two blinding saves from Wright that won it. The keeper is always going to be a key player. If we'd won most of our games, and he'd made even more mistakes than he has, we wouldn't be having these conversations... He has make some bloopers - higher profile because of our plight. The new boy will freshen things up and this will help Wright. Onwards and upwards.

probably my beer goggles, but first glimpse of the small pic, i thought he looks like young Giggs'y......................you dont think Keano is going to play him as a winger ! Stranger things have happened .

He might do - he can't be any worse than Martin.

I would be very surprised if this guy plays much football. The defence are used to Wright, a new gk would confuse them even more. If he is anything like the rest of rk signings than he is proberly crap anyway.

Looks like yet another decent signing from Roy. Okay, Delaney and Healy were poor signings, but the rest are certainly no worse than the JM signings. Richard Wright has been a decent player for us, but will certainly benefit from some proper competion. Would be surprised if this new guy starts, but one more critical error from Richard (Doncaster, Newcastle, Barnsley and Sheffield) then Richard can quite rightly expect a long stint on the bench.

This is a clever move by Roy, although a loan centre back would be appreciated!

When was the last time Richard Wright preformed on a consistant basis?
Not with Arsenal,
Not with Everton,
Not with West Ham &
to be honest and blunt not with us since he returned,he has put in some horrible displays and not worthy of his place.Could the die hards start to realise this and see it.He is and has been to blame for alot of our conceded goals this year and is milking his reputation which is now ten years old.
IMAGINE THAT TEN YEARS SINCE HE WAS RECAGNISED FOR DOING HIS JOB>

i wouldn't call Rosenior, Leadbitter or Edwards crap ...... and i also think Wrighty should be first name on the team sheet (David that is)

Richard has always been a good shot stopper i agree, but only if the ball is in his comfort zone. he has never been able to jump and catch or dive (good at falling sideways, but not actually launching at the ball outside his immediate reach).

With all the problems that Ipswich have, I would be very surprised if changing Richard Wright was the answer to them. Yes, he has made a few mistakes but generally he has performed well. A few weeks ago we were worried that a Premier League team would take him off us, now we're thinking he may be replaced with someone on a 3-month loan! Wouldn't we be better bringing in a decent centre back and then keeping a settled defence rather than constantly changing it?

I work in Portsmouth and the Pompey fans I have spoken to really rate him and don't want him to go
