Edwards: Players Backing Keane
Edwards: Players Backing Keane
Thursday, 22nd Oct 2009 08:54

Midfielder Carlos Edwards says the Town squad are firmly behind manager Roy Keane, despite the continuing winless run. Tuesday’s draw against Watford was the Blues’ 13 match without a win.

Edwards said: “We are all firmly behind the manager. What more can he say or do?

“The manager is very disappointed. He asked us in the dressing room if anyone had ever experienced a run like this in their careers and none of us have gone this long without a victory.

“We are staying positive and sticking together. We know what is at stake and we really believe things can only get better.”

why so many baffling decisions though Roy ?,like paying nearly £2 million for Priskin but not playing him & playing Trotter at all as he would not get in the Colchester team, then there's Healy & Delaney what did you sign them for ?.
Richard Wright has been an outcast but now you realise he is better than what you've got in.
I want you to be a success but you have made a total pigs ear of it so far.

Very excited about Edwards.. i think he showed us why we bought him on Tuesday and especially with Rosenior behind him who was excellent!

Above of course was meant to be David Wright, but that does open up yet another questionable decision

You can't be comparing Begovic with Wright yet can you2 games after ? IMO I would rather have Begovic. Healy was a mistake but yes Delaney has mad mistakes but he hasn't been awful.

You have to question RKs decisions. His signings Healy & Delaney really don't look good enough. What is the point of Lee Martin? He can't shoot, pass the ball, beat a defender or tackle back. Priskin has not been given a run in the side - strange as we cannot score goals with the current 1st choice forwards. David Wright always consistent yet consigned to training with the youths & reserves most of the season. Tried to get rid of Counago, managed to offload the very promising Rhodes. Garvan not even in the squad yet Trotter continues to play every game. Richard Wright not even on the bench last 2 games.

On the positive, Edwards, Leadbitter & Rosenior all look decent signings.

Oh dear, if players and the CE are coming out with votes of confidence for Roy then it sounds to me that if he doesn't win at least one of the next two games then he will get the push. Be surprised if he wasn't given until at least Christmas though.

Is it really bad that I read every Edwards interview in my head with a Caribbean accent?

After the two good away performances where we got mugged at Sheff Utd and Barnsley I was really glad the home fans saw a good performance, even more so after the dull game against Swansea. For those who are not watching games we are in a crisis, for those who are going to home and away games, they can see that since the Newcastle game we really have been consistently unlucky and played well. We're 3 points from safety and have 2 out of the 3 teams directly above us in the next 3 games with Derby in the middle. Keane is building a good team, he knows the defence and strikers need strengthening. Stop bloody moaning, I realise it is expensive supporting a team not winning but lets see a good vocal crowd at Plymouth on Saturday and get that elusive win, we can do it!!!

Ahhhh, good old Keano..it's great being at the bottom of the table, ain't it...!?

I am still incredible positive about this season. Seems strange seeing as we haven't won a game this season. In Keano we trust. The Championship is so condensed, that a good run will see us flying up the table. COYBB!!!

It really comes down to next weekend. Lose away to Plymouth, and any confidence built up over the last week will be gone. Begovic v Wright: put simply where is the sense in not even having Wright on the bench? You're playing one ring-rusty keeper, he gets injured in the match and you don't even have your other experienced keeper available. Ditto Bruce: why continue to play Smith when a more experienced option is available? It's not so much the performances as the unfathomability of RK's team choices that make you lose faith in him. Where's the point in building a stronger team if you're not going to deploy the strongest options available to you?

Garvan must come back into the fray, and Priskin ,must be given a few games up front on the bounce...Bobby Robson would be horrified at the amount spent on someone who is not being given an opportunity to prove himself...criminal
I'm not seeing Trotter as anything other than a substitute who can come on in place of a striker in the final ten minutes of a game to protect a lead
However i do have faith in RK and am heartened that there seems to be a groundswell of support for him even in thses difficult times.
Our patience will be rewarded.

Lets be positive. The win WILL come on Saturday! Can everybody get off Trotter's back. He is not as bad as everybody makes out. I think he covers alot of ground and does alot of the defensive ugly work that seems to go unoticed. He also wins alot in the air in comparison to say Leadbitter. Some of this criticism is pathetic!

Let's take a look at RK sigings and other players:

Healy: Was he he not worth a gamble at the price we paid? Before his long term injury he was very highly thought of. RK must think he can get him back to that kind of standard and hopefully he will.

Delaney: He was bought as a left back, yet if you ask any Hull fan they will tell you his best position is at centre back. He shows signs of being a very good defender, though his one problem with playing at LB is he is too slow and he can't always get back to defend in time. The matches I have seen him play this season he was no where near as bad as other defenders for example Bruce who we should have got shot of. Worse CB I have seen in 40 years.

Ledbitter/Colbeck/Edwards/Rossi: Nuff said

Martin: Now there is mixed feelings among the fans about this lad. RK must think he can bring him on and Beattie likes him so I'll trust one of the greatest legands opinions on this.

Prisken: Again mixed reviews from fans. David Johnson mrk II rates him and reackons he gets better every time he sees him. Missed preseason and was away alot on international duty. My gut feeling is he will come good. a lot of Watford fans rated him.

Now about some of our older players.
D. Wright, every one said he was awful in the game against Forest and RK dropped him now he has brought him back he is meaner and hungrier and played out of his skin on saturday. Seems to be a good bit of man management on RK's part.

Garvan: The enigma...he has so much promise but was happy to go along where he just showed up for games. RK has dropped him and instead of the prima donna attitude, where he could have left instead he chose to stay get his head down and win his place back, he also is working with the coaches on extra training working on his weaknesses. That is the attitude we all want to see from players, and I think RK will bring him back into the fold when he thinks he is ready. Great bit of man mangement on RK's part.

Trotter: I have read alot of comments on him most very negative, but RK must see something in the lad, though I think when Norris is fit.......

People keep talking about RK's bizarre decisions bad man management skills yet the players are all behind him. His most bizarre decision for me was to sell Jordon Rhoades. I would have played him at least one season just to see if he could do it. I know RK has said and he is right that every player is for sale if the right price comes in for him but he also said the bottom line is he puts the deal to the player and it is up to the player to decide if he wants it, not him or anybody else at the club. And he is happy if the player says no and wants to stay and fight for his place. Bottom line Jordon could have stayed if he really wanted too.

Finally R. Wright: Aplayer I rate as the greatest Ipswich goal keeper of all time. When we finished 5th in the premiership to take us into Europe it was mainly because of two players. Marcus Steward scoring the goals, and R. Wright keeping them out. As a retired military man I understand why RK is resting RW, playing behind the worse defence I can remember seeing for Ipswich RW is shell shocked. But our player of the year last year is still the best goal keeper in this division.

As for this start to this season I have never seen anything like it in 40 years. We have been totally devoid of luck tht I am wondering if RK has pi$$ed off a leprechaun or something. They say though that luck evens itself out over the course of a season if that is true we have a huge dose of good luck coming our way.

I agree Pablosrightboot..Trotter comes in for a lot of stick on here, but ive seen a lot worse wear the shirt. People must remember he's still learning so it doesn't help his confidence when a small minority boo when he is substituted
As for Garvin, many a time last season he went missing on the pitch so perhaps Keane is keeping him in the reserves for a while so when he is recalled he will be really up for it.

bluetoba I couldn't agree more. After a run of 13 winless games most teams would be dead and buried for the season, but we seem to be getting stronger every match.

Its difficult to watch Magilton's QPR score 8 goals in a week but eventually they'll have their tough patch where they experience 95th minute equalisers. Will Magilton be able to keep them lifted? Doubt it, would much reather have Keano any day of the week.

Hang on a minute! Of course it is important what Lightningboy thinks - he is an Ipswich fan like the rest of us. As for the squad - what loyalty have any one of them got to Ipswich? Let's be honest, if a better offer came along with the lure of more MONEY then any member of the squad would be off like a shot - bye bye Ipswich - thanks, but no thanks.

Never read such garbage in all my life. Open your eyes folks and see the rot in the club - a squad and board that backs a manager who can't even produce a win in 13 games.

Win on Saturday? Pfft! Don't hold your breath.

i believe trotter is really growing into his role and has been putting in some decent performances, improving week on week like the rest of the team. If u dont think he has been playing well then i can only assume u know little about football. I suppose makelele was a sh*t player as well
