Keane: Draw Right Result
Keane: Draw Right Result
Saturday, 7th Nov 2009 21:35

Boss Roy Keane felt a draw was the right result after Town’s visit to Reading ended 1-1. The point took the Blues off the bottom of the table and extended their unbeaten run to five matches.

Keane said: “It was probably a fair result, although Brendan might not agree. They had more of the possession and put us under pressure. They are a big, strong side, which surprised me.

"I thought our last two performances were perhaps the poorest for a month. But we got results, and I always say that if you get results the table sorts itself out.

"Perhaps we scored too early because as soon as we did, we thought we could sit back. But you can't do that."

Keane felt his side had opportunities to win the match: "We had three or four chances, good chances, particularly Tamas Priskin in the second half but to be fair to Reading, so did they.

"We had to get bodies in the way late on but we brought a lot of that pressure on ourselves. Our passing was awful. We gave the ball away cheaply all over the pitch.

"It's another draw and they are stacking up at the moment. In our last two games we have not played that well but we've picked up four points, so we have to look at that as a positive." The Blues boss had praise for Liam Rosenior, who was booed by Reading fans throughout the game: "Liam has been excellent for us and it was the same again day.

"Players will get stick when they go back to their old club, although Liam is still a Reading player of course. But good players thrive on that situation and he enjoyed it."

Keane again said how much he is liking life in Suffolk: "It's a nice area to live. My wife and I are enjoying it. Mind you, I have been walking the dog at midnight after a few of our recent results."

Keeper Richard Wright was missing from today’s 18 after picking up a back injury.

Reading boss Brendan Rodgers felt his side should have been awarded a penalty towards the end: "It was a game we came into with big confidence but gave ourselves a mountain to climb by giving away a goal at the beginning. It was a stupid goal.

"I thought we should have had a penalty when Shane Long was brought down near the end. It's clear there was contact when you see the TV replay. You usually get those at home.

"We had some really good moments in the first half but failed to capitalise. It's a frustrating end to a couple of good weeks."

Forget the past, George Burley, great teams, etc, we had a (to my mind) great talker, organizer and central defender Mowbray who allowed the manager to set up the 3 - 5 - 2 system - and played excellent football and yet I remember it took a long time to get promoted playing that way - with hoofball teams finishing higher than us season after season - but back to reality based on the current squad with maybe one or two changes, how are we going to get at least twelve more wins this season to stay up - most teams nearer the top of the league play 'ugly' - it's very rare that a team plays great football and gets results week in, week out - and apparently we could have 'nicked it' at the end. We are going to be scraping results from now on, and the performances will have to take second place to 'getting a result'.

Facefacts were screwed and will be relegated with Keane in charge!
People take the slightest positive and think it will be the changing of our season.

OUR SEASON WILL NOT CHANGE UNTIL KEANE IS GONE! WE WILL HAVE THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK NOW AND COME BACK WITH A DRAW/DEFEAT THEN WILL HE GO?

WE SHOULD DO IT NOW AND GIVE THE NEW MANAGER A BIT OF TIME ON THE TRAINING PITCH BEFORE HIS FIRST TEST

KEANE OUT

Yes Callum, but who (1 x manager and 1 x coach) will be able to turn it around quickly enough - needing 12 wins out of about 30 games - and Marcus Evans will not want to pay Roy Keane's contract off. He will not resign because he will not want this situation on his record. He will try to stay and restore his reputation. I just don't think he will go.

I know it is a difficult one, but he needs to go! On the other hand a manager coming in will maybe not have as much pressure having to start 2nd from bottom! We just need him out and for things to freshen up!

I'm going to the Palace game on boxing day for anyone who wants show there anger at me in person. ha!

could have lost, but didn't. Off the bottom. fantastic finish by Stead, makes a change, we been conceding a few super goals this season. two weeks to wait till we have a chance to put it right. If we win against Wednesday then the picture will look different. until then i'm sure these boards will make for interesting reading :-)

To me i'm starting to get the impression that some people on here feel like:
"We can't get rid of that nice big name Mr.Keane,it was ever so good of him to come down to little ipswich and give us his expertise-he's too big a name to sack,he's a Manchester utd legend y'know".

It's sad but true..our club is becoming all about Roy Keane..he's the monkey we desperately need off our backs & until that happens this is going to drag on and on and on......
