Clegg: Nothing Has Changed
Clegg: Nothing Has Changed
Tuesday, 24th Nov 2009 15:25

Chief executive Simon Clegg has repeated his backing for manager Roy Keane in the wake of yesterday’s tabloid claim that the Blues boss was set to be sacked.

Clegg said: “The reports are absolute rubbish. I spoke to the media only recently and reiterated our full backing to the manager then and nothing has changed in our position.”

Meanwhile, Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn has commented on Roy Keane’s remarks regarding Ireland’s controversial World Cup exit and the FAI: "I found them disturbing. I didn't enjoy hearing it. He did great for Sunderland FC and I won't forget that, but I won't always agree with everything he does."

Keane’s biographer Eamon Dunphy has also made his thoughts known on the matter.

I dont hate Keane for speaking his mind I hate him for his alck of managerial knowledge and blah blah (you all know why)

Give me something to cheer about and I will be the first on here to cheer. trust me.

In the meantime whilst we are sh*te and in the relegation zone with little happening in the way of 'player recruitment' I will continue to air my hatred for him.

Its no skin off anyone elses noses what I write on here. I dont respond to people when they say KEEEEEEEEEEENO. I just read it and continue with my own postings!

Clegg has come out and made that statement, but he could not say much else if as i suspect Keane has been given a deadline ie a couple of games to get things going, hardly likely to say well weve had a chat with Roy and if he dosnt get 6 points from next two games he can feck off .

Dirty, only time will tell.
As i said earlier,Keane will live or die on his decisions and results, not downnto any of us.

Of course Clegg is going to say that.

He is hardly going to say "We haven't sacked him yet, but we are in negotiations with his successor, and as soon as contracts have been agreed, we will phone Roy at home and tell him he is no longer required. Just like we did with Jim".

Who knows what is going on behind the scenes?

It baffles me as to why, when the board supports their manager, that it instantly means that they will get the sack.
I am sick to the back teeth of these so called supporters. Bollox to your "Oh its blind faith, get real, keane out etc etc" screw you. Support your team. I hate to be made to feel like an inferior supporter because I back the manager of a team I love dearly. I know we can pull ourselves out of this. If we were losing every game then fair enough, but hings are coming together slowly. And for all you "supporters" who want Burley back, I guarantee that you were the chumps that jumped onto the band wagon when we got promoted and now becasue we aren't doing well you want quick changes. God I feel more frustrated by the moronic fans than the football on the pitch. Right rant over and apologies, I just want a bit more positivity on and off the pitch.

Injuredanimal, you're making sense as usual!!! You may remember our little run in we had a while back.
Anyway, why hasn't anybody mentioned George Burley in, Keano out? I was really hoping to have a pop at someone for that lol. Really wouldn't want that to happen.
As to people saying blind faith in Keane, I think it's more a case of people supporting the team and manager. At least we're on an unbeaten run at the moment, we're just a bit toothless in front of goal, which is clearly a difficult problem to sort, or Keane would have brought in this so called 20 goal a season striker.
Come on Keano, I'd love nothing more than to have you as a cult hero here at Portman Road (although this current situation can't go on forever, support him whilst we're in our current predicament!)
COYB!!!!

i dont understand the overly pro-keane comments. i would have thought the best opinion would be neutral given what he has done so far. we are approaching the point where keeping keane risks us being relegated. if we lose the next two games (one of which we are highly likely to lose), we are in a world of trouble.

i say act now, burley may not be the long term solution but at least he would keep us up this season. relegation would be a disaster and i cant see one single thing that keane has done at either sunderland or here that justifies the risk of keeping faith with him.

Pickles are a collection of vegtables in a spicy sauce with a bit of kick, which is more than our attacking front pair!

Pickles out for all cold meats including over paid lawyers who rant on on here!
