Peters Signs New Deal
Peters Signs New Deal
Tuesday, 15th Dec 2009 14:28

Midfielder Jaime Peters has signed a new three-year contract which will keep him at the club until 2013. TWTD was first to reveal that the Canadian international had been offered the new deal back in October.

The 22-year-old, whose current terms were due to expire at the end of the season, told the club site that he is delighted to be extending his time at Portman Road: "It's a nice Christmas present and I'm obviously very pleased to be given the chance to stay here.

"I've had my ups and down in my time here but Ipswich is a great club and I'm pleased with the way things have gone for me this season in terms of being involved with the first team.

"I think I have progressed as a player this season and I'm enjoying playing under the manager.

"Results have not gone as we would have hoped for, but our performances have been good lately and there is a confidence in the squad now that things are turning around.

"If we can keep our run going and win a few more games then we will move up the table quickly and get closer to the play-offs. That's the aim."

Peters joined the Blues in 2005 having been on trial at Portman Road the previous year. The Canadian has made 38 starts and 25 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring two goals. During his time with Town, Peters has also spent spells on loan at Yeovil and Gillingham.

Good signing....hope he continues in the same vein as his performance at Coventry on match day 1...remember his shot struck the post. Could the season have been very different if that had gone in, and we had emerged with a opening day win?!

Good to see a player who was on the periphery but has got his head down and worked hard rather than sulk about it. If he keeps working and learning he'll be a real asset.

Well done Jamie, love your attitude on the pitch and always time for fans when around the ground when he was injured, a young man but a true pro.
