Keane: Core of Squad Has Emerged
Keane: Core of Squad Has Emerged
Thursday, 8th Apr 2010 13:26

Boss Roy Keane says the core of a squad for next season has emerged in recent weeks as he looks ahead to the 2010/11 campaign. The Town manager says he is aware of the areas he needs to strengthen and who might be on their way out of Portman Road.

Keane said: "I have certainly learned a lot about the group here over the last two or three months.

"We have shown we are still capable of shooting ourselves in the foot now and again, like we did at Watford, Peterborough and against Plymouth, but we have also shown we can dig in and get results like we did last week against Reading and Derby.

"We have made progress over the last few months, definitely, and I can see the core of the squad now.

"I'm 99 per cent sure of the players that I think can have a good season next year and a few that unfortunately will probably have to leave.

“I think there are one or two players where we might have to look at it. Like every club we’ll have a good look at ourselves in the summer and see which players we feel we’ll have on board and which players might have to look elsewhere, but that goes on at every club.”

Keane, who is yet to talk to chief executive Simon Clegg regarding a summer budget, has previously said he hopes to have a smaller squad for 2010/11.

You know the really sad thing is that if KEANOTHECLOWN was to actually reveal himself and meet Roy Keane he would either sh#t himself with fear or salivate like a dog just about to have dinner, defo info, sad innit ?

Well thank goodness we have climbed the table to almost safety. Be nice to get a couple of more wins over the last few games (even tho we have some toughies coming up) to give the team a bit more confidence.
Looking a lot better for next season, and I know most of us were saying the smae thing at the start of this season, but that is now water under the bridge so onwards and upwards and lets all hope we do not have all this childish back stabbing like we had this season.

It's interesting to note that the scum imposters on this board are getting more restless these days. A further sign of the progress we are making.

Keane the clown is clearly a budgie fan only budgies get everything back to front and upside down just like Delia smith in a brothel
(she pays her customers instead of taking their money)
Ipswich are the club with cups to save that don't belong in the canteen Norwich are the club that has none if they get a cup this year it will be so KAK it will most likely be made from asbestos and survive the fire anyway further more if there was a fire at portman road Roy Kean would just casual stroll in and p*ss on it untill its out with no fear for his own life which is exactly what he will do to any budgie at portman road next year
on another note i would call the scum canary's instead of budgies like they actually are but real canary's sing so well and its such an insult to compare them to scum

To get back on topic, my squad for next season:

Goalies: Murphy, R. Wright, Lee-Barrett

Right Backs: D. Wright, Rosenior

Left Backs: O'Connor + [NEW SIGNING]

Centre Backs: McAuley, Delaney, Smith, Eastman

Right Midfield: Walters, Edwards

Left Midfield: Civelli, Martin

Centre Midfield: Norris, Leadbitter, Colback + [NEW SIGNING]

+ "Mr Versatile" Peters!

Strikers: Murphy, Wickham, Priskin + [NEW SIGNING]

Hopefully get enough money in from the sale of Bruce, Garvan, Pablo, Lisbie, Stead, Pim, C. Healy, Quinn & Trotter to help fund Murphy, Colback, an experienced left-back, a creative midfielder & pacey striker.

Considering Priskin & Martin are 22/23, I think it's a bit early to be writing them off - plenty of players far better than them (e.g Cristiano Ronaldo) have had quiet first seasons at a new club - I wouldn't be surprised to see either one or both of them proving the doubters wrong next season.

i dont know why everyone is expecting colback to be at sunderland and in the first team next season Bruce has been more than open about spedning big money next year if they stay up.... there wont be a place for colback he will be out on loan again for atleast half a sesason if not sold in the summer for around 1.5-2m with add ons to either another championship club or one of the 3 promoted if hes lucky if we can afford what ever fee it is i would get him in and sell garvan for 500 thou to some other championship mug
