Town Up Chopra Offer
Town Up Chopra Offer
Friday, 4th Jun 2010 23:12

Town are understood to have made an increased offer of £3.75 million to Cardiff for striker Michael Chopra. The former Sunderland man is Roy Keane’s number one striking target as he looks to end the Blues’ goalscoring woes.

Chopra played for Keane at Sunderland and the Town boss is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old, who started his career at Newcastle.

The Blues were reported to have made an initial offer of £3 million, subsequently raising their bid to £3.5 million and now £3.75 million.

Keane is believed to be looking to pair Chopra, who is valued at £4 million by the Bluebirds, with Connor Wickham next season.

As I mentioned in my comment.... Which players have you got in mind?

Surely we would want someone that has a proven scoring record in the league rather than take a gamble on someone and then we are bj to last season where we cant score?!

You need to be realistic that if there are players out there with real potential premier league class, they will be snapped up pretty quickly (Beckford for example).

I cant see how you think signing Chopra isnt a good move....

Titanicclown - your point that we need a side that can not only get promoted, but stay there is a good one under normal circumstances, but this summer is an exception. With the new parachute payments coming in from the end of next season and the poor state the relegated clubs are in, this is the best chance of getting promoted for several years and there probably won't be a better one for the foreseeable future. Once the new payments kick in, the relegated clubs will have such a huge advantage. At least two of them will be straight back up every year and probably all three. It's imperative we are one of the clubs to benefit from this extra money, or we'll find ourselves further and further adrift. So sign players who we know can and will deliver at this level, just this summer, whatever the cost.

like you said keano anything less than top 6 next season is no good cardiff rate him at 4 million so they'll take that hurry up and sign him before some1 else does. we need him and a few more to have any chance of finishing 6th or higher. WE NEED A RIGHT BACK because we don't have a natural positioned one! Rosinier didn't do tht bad did he?

If this is true, it's great news in my view. I've never been totally convinced about Chopra but having seen his performances in the last two play-off games, he'd be an excellent signing. He was the stand-out player for Cardiff and was unlucky to be on the losing side (thrilled though I was that Cardiff lost!).

Yes get him now...Connor having done wonders for England U17's is thought to be worth at least a 1000000 more? Snodgrass from Leeds would also boost our attacking midfield...any chance?...but hopefully Civelli will also be back. Playmaker is also required...Leadbitter could be that, but needs to look for the creative forward pass,...he could do that with an ex Sunderland 'buddy' up front?
Convert Peters to right back, buy an intelligent left back with the ability to cover the centre back parternership of McAurley and Delaney, get Norris to be worth his fee and Keeper Murphey to learn to distribute...which leaves Walters to concentrait on being a goalscoring/goalmaker/Captain...perhaps too much to ask?
McAurley should regain the Captains armband, now that he has a good co-partner in Delaney...let Walters free to just play and regain his form of two years ago?
Who is the intelligent left-back we require? Could Nicky Butt be a better partner for Leadbitter?
