Cardiff: We Don't Need to Sell Chopra
Cardiff: We Don't Need to Sell Chopra
Wednesday, 16th Jun 2010 16:01

Cardiff City chairman Gethin Jenkins says the recent takeover of his club by a Malaysian consortium means the Bluebirds do not have to sell striker Michael Chopra. Town are understood to have made offers of up to £4 million for the former Sunderland man, although Jenkins says reports of a bid are "speculation".

Jenkins, whose club settled their £1.9 million tax debt last week, said: "We're not in a position where we need to sell. With the new investment we're building a strong platform to go forward.

“And Michael Chopra is contracted to us and the reports of the bid is just speculation."

Town boss Roy Keane is understood to want to pair Chopra, who he signed when manager of Sunderland, with Connor Wickham next season.

There's no way chopra would join you his at a club with a better manager, better players around him and a better chance of promotion next season his also loved by us bluebirds fans.

why would he want to play in front of so called fans who moan and groan about who should be signed. Just speculation.

Who the feck are cardiff city?? Look, I'm not that convinced about him mate, gambling problem, and we have a moron for a manager, which means he wont get the best out of him anyway, but this is a bigger club with a bigger history and fans who might moan but they aren't a bunch of animals who bring shame on the game of football

Interesting wording in the Cardiff chairmans statement where he says they dont have to sell. He doesnt say that Chopra isnt for sale. I think this has more mileage in it yet & a lot depends on just how much Keane wants him & how much we are willing to pay

How about buying Jordan Rhodes back? £2mil, perhaps? Scores lots in the 6 yard box

Cardiff City chief executive Gethin Jenkins

If his business skills are anything like his command of English then Cardiff will be in trouble.

I wonder would 4 million buy us someone like Nicky Maynard from B. City, probably and a bit of change also, anyone else like to see him come to the Town?

we dont need to buy him either....how about buying the entire north korean defense and getting rid of keane.and get a good manager in so we can start the process of getting into the top division. this messing around with ex sunderland players and making silly offers on strikers who are not good enough is trying are patience..do we want to go up or are we happy with a big name no hoper manager and mid table div 2 status ? is there no desire in this clubs management and board to get us up ?....

Ipswich1992 - as much as Martlesham is a reasonable place to live, I cant imagine a premier league player buying a house there! maybe if it was 1975 then yes, but not with todays wages

I think Gary Hooper is still available and for half of the price of Chopra.
