Ablett Should Sign Over Weekend Saturday, 10th Jul 2010 09:45
Blues boss Roy Keane hopes new coach Gary Ablett will sign his contract over the weekend. Former Liverpool and Everton defender Ablett joined up with the Blues last week after Ian ‘Charlie’ McParland decided not to return to Portman Road for family reasons.
Keane said: “We hope something will be finalised over the next few days. Gary has come on board and we need extra numbers on the coaching side. Charlie McParland did a great job but because of family commitments he couldn’t commit to the club.
“I know Gary a little bit from [studying for] my Pro Licence and he worked with [fitness coach] Antonio Gomez at Liverpool.
"He’s a good lad and a good coach and hopefully that will be finalised in the next few days. We just have a few minor details to sort out on Gary’s contract and hopefully that will be sorted over the weekend.”
Ablett was previously a youth coach at Everton and took control of the reserves at Liverpool, before managing Stockport last season. The 44-year-old left Edgeley Park last month.

Yes, suffolk_n_good. I am sure it is crammed with the names of talented younsters who wouldn't even comtemplate coming down to our level, even on loan. We may get some good Stockport loans though !!! I wonder if he will jump ship from here just as he did from Stockport when they really needed him !!! Not impressed with this "capture".

Great signing... Our Central Defence was looking tighter come the end of last season and with Ablett's input I can see O'connor and Peters developing into a decent Full Back pairing as well... Good all round!
