Hourihane Wins Cap Tuesday, 7th Sep 2010 23:51 Midfielder Conor Hourihane won his third Republic of Ireland U21 cap as his side lost their final European Championships qualifier 1-0 in Turkey this afternoon. The summer signing from Sunderland twice went close with shots, one striking a post and a second flying wide, before the Turks grabbed a late winner. Ireland haven’t qualified for next year’s finals. Elsewhere, while former Blue Darren Bent was netting his first England goal in the 3-1 victory over Switzerland, Márton Fülöp was on the bench and Tamás Priskin was left out of the 18 as Hungary beat Moldova 2-1 in their second Euro 2012 qualifier in Budapest. Jaime Peters and Canada senior side are in action in a friendly against Honduras in Montreal overnight. Meanwhile, academy keeper Cody Cropper was an unused sub as the US U20s lost 5-0 to Paraguay in their opening game at a four-team tournament in Peru on Monday. After that result, Cropper will hope to get the nod when they take on Colombia in their second match overnight.
