Town Draw West Brom at Home
Saturday, 30th Oct 2010 12:26

Town have drawn West Brom at home in the quarter-final of the Carling Cup.

The sides last met in the competition in the 1969/70 season at the third round stage with the tie going to a replay. The first game at Portman Road ended 1-1, Charlie Woods scoring for the Blues and Colin Suggett, Town's chief scout during the George Burley era, netting for the Baggies.

In the replay at the Hawthorns, the home side won 2-0 with Bobby Hope and Jeff Astle scoring the goals.

Last season, as Albion marched into the Premier League, Town were defeated 2-0 at the Hawthorns with Youssuf Mulumbu and Robert Koren on the scoresheet.

At Portman Road, the teams drew 1-1, Grant Leadbitter netting a penalty and Chris Brunt grabbing an equaliser in the final minute.

Overall, Town have won 32 games between the sides (30 in the league), West Brom 21 (20) with 16 (14) ending in draws.

Roberto Di Matteo's men currently sit sixth in the Premier League having made an excellent start to the season.

Carling Cup - Quarter-Finals
Arsenal v Wigan Athletic
Birmingham City v Aston Villa
West Ham United v Manchester United
Ipswich Town v West Bromwich Albion

The ties will take place during the week commencing November 29th.

£10 for adults v West brom, £3 for kids. West brom won't bring very many and this is not a premier league glamour club.

If we get through to the semis who do we want? Arsenal reserves or ManU reserves and £35 tickets?

Yeah bring on one of the big clubs.

Pleased we're at home. It will be far from easy but not impossible to win. I just hope pricing is sensible and fans come along and get behind the boys that night after all it is a quarter final in a major cup competition

Fairly happy with that. Decent chance of going through. COYB! I just hope the club don't charge a fortune for tickets.

A winnable game, although our record against WBA has not been great in recent years!
