Quartet Out of Hull Trip
Quartet Out of Hull Trip
Wednesday, 17th Nov 2010 13:55

Town boss Roy Keane has confirmed that Luke Hyam and Mark Kennedy will miss Saturday’s trip to Hull City with the hamstring injuries they sustained during the 3-1 defeat to Barnsley at the weekend. The Blues will also be without skipper David Norris and central defensive linchpin Gareth McAuley at the KC Stadium.

Keane told the club site: "Luke damaged his hamstring but the boy showed a good side to him by staying out on the park. We're going to be without him against Hull though and it's the same with Mark Kennedy.

"It looks like we will be missing Chuck and Gareth for that game as well, so things are going against us at the moment, but we have to get on with it."

Norris has an ankle problem, which he sustained in the Millwall match, while McAuley has achilles tendinitis, which needs rest and is likely to be out for a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, defender Damien Delaney, who spent six years at Hull, says the squad are determined to bounce back against his old club: "We were all disappointed after the Barnsley game but it's no good worrying about it, we have to do something about it.

"I had a sleepless night analysing the game, probably over-analysing it, but you start a new week and get on with it.

"In sport, like in life, you are going to have ups and downs. It's how you deal with the disappointments that count and for us, that means going to Hull and putting on a hell of a better display than we gave against Barnsley."

We're doomed, doomed I tell you.
Go back to Ireland Roy, your country needs you; my beloved Ipswich doesn't.

o dear o dear the whole squad seems to be falling apart at the moment. Not particually bothered about Hyam because we have Leadbitter back, but Mark Kennedy needs to sort out his fitness i mean we now have no natural fullbacks at all anymore.
Im an incredably worried Ipswich fan at this time expecially without Norris or Mcauley i honestly dont see us getting anything out of the next game or even, may i say it the Naaaarwich game :(

So we have injuries, just another excuse for our tactical mastermind who shipped out a huge number of player for next to nothing and managed to attract next to nothing to replace them. Just hoping the liability won't be around to much longer.
Like his honesty and passion but tactics and man management/motivation seem woefully missing. In another lifetime he would probably be a legend but at present players are overpaid and protected by agents engineering them moves to other clubs the minute someone criticices the slightest thing. It doesn't make it right but thats what you have to work against.

and people still support him unreal........stop going on about sir bobby,he was a man of true honour and keane will never come anywhere near him as a football manager or a person, there is absolutely no comparison whatsoever so stop it,how often do you hear stories of players actually bigging our manager up,no never says it all to me,the sooner hes gone the better for everyone.

as Blue army says Keane has shipped out a huge number of player for next to nothing and managed to attract next to nothing to replace them, what he didnt say was it cost millions us to attract the next to nothing to replace them, its all so sad, that money and the money magic had, could have been spent so much more better.

itfc1981 - You prattle on about Garvan - he was dreadful in the last year here. His performance at WBA last year was nothing short of a disgrace. Let it go - he was never that good.

Just pay Kennedy off now. save us wondering if he'll ever be fit. Waste of a contract from day one, at his age he should have been pay as you play.

kennedy seems like a waste of time takes him 5 weeks of prep to play 20 minutes. i assume hull will win 2-1 or 2-0..........happy days are certainly not here again

Blueblood mate I am with you. Keane cant win. He plays youth who everyone was clamouring for, we lose and its his fault as they had no experience. Norris , Leadbitter and Mcaughly are our best players and every team suffers without their best players - Chelsea on Sunday is a case in point as is Liverpool with no Gerrard and Torres. As for Carling cup we have beaten nobodies the similar level of nobodies that knocked out championship clubs in the early rounds when we were getting through. Frankly the slagging off of Keane is staggering beyond belief. He hasnt even had 2 years. George Burley teams were poor virtually every season before Xmas in those play off years. Support the team and the manager guys you never know what you might get.

Gonna attempt to answer as many of the questions above as I can...

League cup debate. Who cares if we beat so called nobodies, I dont know if you noticed but the last 6 or 7 years under royle, magilton and keane we have lossed in the 1st or 2nd roudn to this dross so making the quarter finals of a national competition and being the only non-prem team their is an achievement and some fans need to give credit where due. Admittedly we were expected to beat these sides but QPR lost at home to Port Vale so its still an achievement to get where we are.

Yes Keane probably should go but the realism is that Evans isnt gonna sack him! So for fu*k sake stop having your personal vendetta, he will go at the end of the season and until then support the team rather than him. We are only 2 points of the play-offs so maybe the idiot might get us there?

Also I think the main story in this article is Norris and McAuley. Says they need about 2 weeks rest? WHAT ABOUT THE DERBY!?!?!? I have seen Norwich this year down at there dump and they were dreadful against Swansea but without Norris and McAuley it will be very difficult for us. So lets unite as god forbid TRUE FANS! get behind the lads, ignore the manager rather than moan at him and beat the scum down their place next sunday. COYB!

Simply disagree with the keane comment chambers (which I can understand since I pay £210 rather than £400 because Im a student) or the whole thing about the league cup and the derby? Because whatever you say, a cup quarter final is about as common as a solar eclipse for this club this decade, and the derby is the most important game of the season if promotion is unrealistic?

Wonder who are full backs will be.Doubt it is Peters at rb- he played in the recent reserves loss to Norwich. Most likely Eastman and Smith.Kilbane,Harper and Solano haven't been great so far.our fbs should easily contain them. should be a boring 0-0, with aimless punts upfield

I have supported Keane until now but after what I saw against Barnsley I really cannot do so any more and he must go!It gives me no pleasure to say that, unlike some on this site it appears, because had Keane been successful then so would Town and surely thats what we all want?

Between them Keane and Magilton have wasted the last five years and £20 million imo and we really are no further forward than when Royle gave up because of lack of resources. I can remember the early days of Sir Bobby Robson and it is true he did struggle but the crucial difference is that you could at least see what he was trying to achieve and things got better slowly. I know people will argue we are in an improved position compared to this time last year but I dont think we have played that well all season and what I saw against Barnsley was totally unacceptable and I felt embarrassed watching it.

In some respects Keane has been unlucky. Town fans are very frustrated about the last eight or so years I think and he happens to be in place when the frustrations are finally boiling over. He was clearly made to sell players in the summer and has not been funded to bring in the replacements he wanted. Having said that he spent a lot of money last season and his tactical decisions baffle me most of the time! Making grandiose statements when first arriving about getting us up in two years did not help his cause at all either.

So Keane should go and be replaced by an experienced man with a proven track record. No more well meaning amateurs (Magilton) or celebrity managers (Keane). Whether or not Evans will act is the question and I think two of the next three games are crucial. Regardless of what happens at Hull if we get turned over at Norwich, which has to be a real possibility, the home match against a very good Swansea team takes on massive significance. Another lacklustre display by Town along the lines of the Barnsley performance and the home crowd will really let rip I suspect. I dont think Evans will like that very much!!!

Amazing how many injuries 'occur' when teams are playing badly isn't it - I wonder why ??
Bring back Matty Holland - he'd be there whatever - and perform.

bluelady - your theory is great, but it will never happen because ITFC have an element of support that will forever be satisfied with whatever - as long as a ball is kicked at Portman Road. Sad but True - unfortunately.
The rest of us only want the best - because we've been there before, liked it, and want it again - entertaining, successful Football, and the our club where it should be.
