Sheffield Wednesday Town's Rivals for Fallon Friday, 31st Dec 2010 08:47
League One Sheffield Wednesday are the other club chasing Town loanee Rory Fallon, according to reports in the South-West. The Plymouth striker was said to be the subject of an offer from a rival club earlier in the week.
The New Zealand international is due to remain with the Blues on loan until January 22nd and has said he would like to make the move a permanent one. So far he has impressed during his time at Portman Road and a switch to another League One club would appear to be somewhat less attractive.
Town and cash-strapped Argyle are believed to have agreed a provisional permanent deal when the 28-year-old moved to the Blues in late November.
Meanwhile, former Town striker Paul Mariner has left his coaching role at Plymouth and is expected to take up a position with MLS side Toronto FC.
Elsewhere, ex-Town loanee David Unsworth has been named the caretaker-manager at Preston in the wake of Darren Ferguson's sacking.

It's a kick in the teeth to think we're challenging a League 1 club for an average players signature, but think how much of a worse signal it would give out to the rest of the country if they mange to sign him ahead of us!!! Bad times at PR.....

I cant believe people are actually trying to stick up for Fallon!! Have you lot seen his goal scoring record for Plymouth? 130 app and 19 goals!!! Im sorry but that's just NOT good enough, Keano said we need goal scorers not target men. And the people who are getting excited about his assists… did you see them against Leicester they weren't exactly amazing, first goal he laid a pass off 5 yards and for Scotlands goal he passed the ball 5 yards to him too! Now they weren't exactly defence splitting passes were they?? When he got a chance in the box he scuffed and it trickled towards goal……. As you can probably tell I hate this signing. Please go to the Owls!!!

I think it's too early to make a judgement either way on Fallon yet. However, based on cOmnents from Plymouth fans and his goals record, its perhaps not the best possible signing. Also it makes me laugh that keane said Fallon has always done well against his teams and you wonder whether that is the extent of his scouting for potential players. Yes, I am a cynic!!

ash_itfc his pass against Leicester must have split the defence for Scotland to score what matters if it is only 5 yards as long as it went into the net, god people on here just don't want to give players a chance if he pulls on the town shirt then he gets my support COYB's

Ash. It is winning the ball. holding on to it and then putting it on a plate, that is what he is all about and he looks well capable of that to me. Bit like Mariner! Ime sure he will score a few too!

Just let Rory Forlorn go back where he came from, if Sheff Wed want him then fine, because that is his level, anyone who wants to get out of this league will not do it with players like him, the rest cannot hit a barn door with a banjo anyway so its a goalscorer we need and quick, we need a foresale, no reasonable offer refused, just hope someone wants Keane as well, then a fresh start preferably with a manager and players who actually want to play football, not kick and rush.
