Swansea Back in for Priskin
Swansea Back in for Priskin
Friday, 31st Dec 2010 23:00

Swansea City have made a loan offer for Town striker Tamás Priskin. On Thursday Blues boss Roy Keane revealed that the club were considering a loan bid for one of their senior players.

The Swans were understood to have made enquiries regarding Priskin in the summer with manager Brendan Rodgers having been the boss to get the most out of the Hungarian at Watford.

Back then, Rodgers said he wasn’t surprised that his new club were being linked with the Slovakia-born frontman: “He is a player that I worked with at Watford and he scored a lot of goals for me. He is a talent.

“He is one of a number of players that will be linked with Swansea because of their association with me. He is a good player, but he is an Ipswich player.”

Keane has said that the Blues could look at allowing one or two of his squad move on loan in order to free up wages so new players can be brought in.

Priskin, who has 18 months on his Town contract with the club also having the option of another year, has recently been out of Keane’s squad after a less than enthusiastic performance from the bench at Preston.

Prior to that, the 24-year-old had finally begun to show why Town paid the Hornets £1.7 million for him in August 2009, netting five goals. However, a month-long barren run led to him being dropped.

Priskin failed to make much of an impact during his first season with the Blues, moving to QPR on loan in January having scored only twice in the first half of the 2009/10 campaign.

some of you appear incapable iof reading between the lines . RK (I accept he has many faults)....has consistantly identified what he considers are key players, only for Clegg to fail in HIS role to bring them in.

So ! RK now wants 3 experienced players , but is being told to offload 1st. As a large proprotion of the squad are loanees (enforced by Cleggs inability to sign RK's original targets in the summer), who have we actually got that he can offload?

Looked quite good this year - certainly better than last. But question marks over his attitude. Yes, he may have been unhappy being dropped at Preston, but very few can disagree that Scotland/Fallon have more presence particularly away from home against big defenders. There is also the issue of whether he scores enough goals. He is afterall a striker. This is sadly the same problem as Pablo. If we need to get rid in order to sign another striker then so be it. Let's face it, our current crop haven't been prolific have they? Scotland does at least have 7 goals - one less than our leading scorer last year. Priskin bagged 5 earlier on, but don't recall when he last scored!

That said and playing devils advocate, it is worrying that we are loaning out a £1.7M player! Surely ME will question whether he can trust Roy with more of his money?

Just have some faith in the players weve got, It's like if they have a bad game or two Keane just sulks. Any good manager would work with what they have got and try and get the best out of them.

If he goes then there better be a 20-goal-a-season man coming in. If not then heads need to role for allowing things to get this bad. Keane out, Clegg out, Evans sort it out! He's been one of our few standout players this season for me. As I said, there needs to be a very good reason for letting him go.

Strange isn't the word. It makes you wonder what RK saw in him in the first place. I have no particular view on this as TP has not really impressed me. His work ethic this season has been better than last without spectacularly delivering the goods but it would appear that he has recently in some way offended RK to the point that he has no future here. Looks like another write-off.

How many more can we afford?

Maybe a loan fee for TP and free his wages up to help buy a striker. Could be a could move.

"Motorvational management" - I like that! Have the player come onto the pitch on tractors maybe?

As for lazy players: Marcus Bent anyone?

Priskin is one of the few quality players we have at Portman Road, if he was managed properly and not taken off or left out of the team when he was playing well.
Another typical Keane statement and who will be eligible to play against Chelsea and Arsenal up front.

Simply doesnt score enough goals . Might be nice to watch but that isn't gonna win us games. Wil never score the required 20 plus goals a season

Nobody is going to score us enough goals in this team of Keane's. Nobody gets a long enough chance without the chopping and changing. And no top player will want to come with the team in this state.

Another class decision by RK if he lets him go, or should that be crass decision.

Nothing surprises me any more about RK's decision making.

........... MoM game after game, with very little service as a striker, and not even playing full games !!!! - now moving him on - can only be described as yet another totally CRAZY DECISION BY A TOTALLY INCOMPETENT MANAGER.
No other explanation fits.

This is nuts. Priskin worked hard and put in a string of MOM performances before Keane inexplicably dropped him (and OK he struggled to score but don't forget he was the best of a team that have looked like a very poor bunch). As usual with Mr K its a case of whether the face fits, nothing to do with football
