Austin Agrees Burnley Deal - Reports
Austin Agrees Burnley Deal - Reports
Friday, 28th Jan 2011 12:16

Town target Charlie Austin is widely reported to have agreed to join Burnley on a three-and-a-half-year deal, subject to a medical. The Swindon striker was at Portman Road for talks yesterday but was unable to agree terms with the Blues.

The Clarets matched Town’s offer — reported to be anywhere from £1.2 million to £2 million - and were given permission to speak to the 21-year-old, who travelled to Turf Moor this morning.

Blackpool and Southampton were also chasing the former Poole Town man but failed to agree a price with the Robins.

why are some on here fixtated by wanting people to be sacked. on what basis have you that this is Simon Cleggs fault. What experience have you of negotiating anything apart from the stairs? You dont know what the player and his agent wanted? You all obviously know that he has had dealings with the Burnley boss before and the only reason he didnt sign then at Bournemouth was because of a transfer embargo. Oh , i forgot you are not allowed to buy players you knew before are you, keane wasn't but amazingly Jewell is (Bullard). Anything to moan about and you're onto it. I imagine one of you is the one who told me to sit down at the emirates as the atmosphere was getting too much. How long before you turn on Paul Jewell? Go and find something else to moan at. You berate Evans and Clegg, they gave you what you wanted and got rid of Keane and thats not enoough. Tell me , for my peace of mind, what happens when, if your wishes come true, Evans and Clegg go? Maybe one of your reliable sources knows the answer to that

I think the majority of the responses to this news simply go to prove that most football fans are complete and utter ignorant morons.

same old ridiculous comments being made on here i see. how is it cleggs fault if players ask for more money than our wage structure allows. that stucture is set by the owner, not SC, so he can only negotiate deals within that structure. before anyone says but what about the bullard deal? 1 its a short term loan deal, not a permanent deal. 2no1 actually knows how much we paying 4 his wages neway. 3 even if we paying more theres a difference between a proven player at premiership level & a player whose never played at this level, & indeed has only been playing at football league level 4 a couple of years neway. so he may or may not have been ne good neway.

Guys, let's forget about this one. Austin may turn out to be a bust afterall.

I say let's throw that £2 million at someone else (St Ledger perhaps?)...anyone...(preferably a striker or centre back)

We have failed to sign all are 1st choices since ME took over, the 1st being when magilton tried to sign Southamptons left back, cant remember name, there must be a tight wage structure here that is putting off decent signings.

Not much point in blaming Clegg...if he's told by his boss what we're willing to go up to on wages then there's not much he can do about it.

Shame as he's a good player with a lot of ability but hey,if he's only interested in money then Burnley are welcome to him...it's his loss not coming here.

Onwards and upwards..how about a bid for Craig Mackail Smith now?

There is alot more reason on here now - maybe the other 'Get Clegg sacked' brigade are watching Cbeebies
- I love the 'reliable source' - If he is moving his entire family ?? how does he know that then he would need the Burnley lifestyle to afford a house for ALL his family
Positive times ahead - go after Le Fondre or I say lets see how we do with what we got - I think we will be fine for a few - only real concern I would have thought is a RB

Disappointed to have missed out on a potentially excellent striker but hopefully we'll keep looking at such targets (rather than the "proven and experienced" sort).

Well interestingly enough our team on the pitch before Evans and Clegg was no worse than the team now...even in administartion!

oh, all you people slagging off clegg. who was ceo, when we signed leadbitter, delaney, edwards, priskin, scotland, fulop, murphy, got wickham 2 sign 2 new deals since he arrived. oh yes, its SC. get a grip people, this deal didnt go through because the player was greedy, nothing else.

oddball added 16:13 - Jan 28
blues 1, the player wasnt greedy he was offered a better deal at burnley and until we can the same or close we will continue to lose out on good players like we have for years.
