Jewell: Swansea Nowhere Near on Scotland Thursday, 10th Feb 2011 14:16
Boss Paul Jewell says Swansea have to improve their offer to the Blues if they are to be successful in their attempt to re-sign striker Jason Scotland on loan. The Town manager says he doesn’t particularly want Scotland to leave but won’t stand in his way if he wants to join his former club on loan.
Jewell confirmed that he has spoken to both Swans manager Brendan Rodgers and their chairman Huw Jenkins, despite the latter denying any contact between the clubs: “If you talk to Brendan Rodgers, yes, if you talk to the chairman, no, but I’ve spoken to both of them. Brendan Rodgers rang me on Tuesday because there was some stuff in the newspapers.
“I said I didn’t particularly want to lose Jason, but if any player doesn’t want to be here and the offer’s right, then I’ll listen to it.
“So I rang their chairman and he called me back and I told him what the deal is and I’ve heard nothing since.”
The Town boss, who would ideally like to add to his squad before allowing Scotland leave, says the loan package that Swansea put together is far from acceptable: “The offer they’ve made is nowhere near. We aren’t going to be paying Jason wages for him to go and play for Swansea.
“If they’re serious about getting promotion and they want a player, they’re going to have to put their hands in their pockets.”
Scotland is unlikely to move on this week even if the clubs do come to a deal with first choice striker Tamás Priskin - along with keeper Márton Fülöp - not yet back from international duty with Hungary, while Ronan Murray picked up a slight thigh strain after scoring two goals in the reserves’ 3-0 victory against Oxford last night. Aside from Murray, there are no new injuries.

Scotland doesn't need to go to Swansea, and we pay his wages (what a cheek) he needs pointing in the direction of a personal fitness trainer and dietician, Loose a stone and he would be so much sharper - and an asset to us, or any Championship team.

Scotland should be concentrating on the gym and his weight rather than a new club. Maybe he's fed up of that chant against Sheff Utd "Who ate all the pies?" Turn fat into muscle and concentrate on your game not Swansea.

just take scotland for a happy meal. he'll be fine after that! to be fair, there have been some really good overweight footballers, maradonna, southall and gascoigne were podgy. didn't stop them. scotlands low level of gravity might help in some matches, and pretty near unstoppable on the charge. should call him "the rhino",like the spiderman villain. must slow him down that weight.

I'm surprised Scotland's runs don't show up on the richter scale.

A very good player in need of some fitness and dietary advice. He looks much heavier now than he did at Swansea. We have some good fitness coaches at the club (Tidhani etc) who will do a good job with him.

Double standard's here me thinks Mr. Jewell. "If Swansea want him we are not going to be paying his wages, so what is going on with Jimmy Bullard then we have borrowed him and are paying less than half his wages?

Village blue; Parhaps as Jewell said, he doesn't want Scotland to go, whereas Hull couldn't wait to offload Bullard !
