Murray Makes Torquay Debut
Murray Makes Torquay Debut
Saturday, 12th Mar 2011 22:25

Striker Ronan Murray made his debut for loan club Torquay as they hammered Shrewsbury 5-0 at Plainmoor. The Republic of Ireland U19 international wasn’t on the scoresheet but laid on the opening goal for new strike partner Gavin Tomlin, a fellow Gulls debutant.

Murray, who has made 12 sub appearances for the Blues scoring one goal, is with the League Two club until the end of the season.

Elsewhere, keeper Ian McLoughlin kept the first clean sheet of his senior career as his loan club Stockport drew 0-0 at home to Burton Albion. The Republic of Ireland U21 international is with the Hatters for a month.

Really think young Murray playing regular league football will only benefit Ipswich in the long term

Well done PJ.

Well done Ronan! An assist is as good as a goal!

I agree. Our younger players will benefit a great deal form some first team experience in the right environment

I think the only thing that was missing from his game was regular footballing time. Well done, good start.

Although I can understand why Murray has been sent out on loan, personally I was hoping he may get a run in our team. Priskin doesn't exactly score many goals and Scotland is very inconsistent. With Wickham being played wide left, I would have thought Murray would have got a chance. Just hope one of our two strikers don't get injured!

It's not the end of the world if one of the front 2 get injured; I'm pretty sure we have a 24 hour recall on Murray.

Ronan is really tiny, really going to have to try and build himself up over the summer if he's going to make it at Ipswich.

@Schanchel he doesn't have to be big to make it. Remember Michael Misfud? He was tiny but he was quality. Its all about quality not quantity.

Michael Owen is not exactly a giant either!

There is recall after first month but also option to move Connor back up front. Murray wouldnt work as a solo striker and feel jewell wont switch to four four two till ne,t season.

Can't we play Peters where Wickham plays then move Wickham up front?

I think Mr Jewell is focused on next season, Murray going out on loan for the rest of this year will be a great boost all round for our prospects in 2011/12.

I would also like to have seen him in the side this year but we have to remain focused on putting together a decent campaign next season.
