![]() Thursday, 17th Mar 2011 19:16 The auction of Tommy Smith’s shirt last week raised £541 for the New Zealand Earthquake Appeal. The auction was won by friends of Town fan Phil Coppeard, who died in the Christchurch quake, and will be given to his wife Suzanne Craig. Max Pentelow bought the shirt along with Tim Evans: "Phil Coppeard was a good friend of mine for 15 years. “Another friend of Phil's, Tim Evans, and I decided to club together to get the shirt to give to Phil's wife in his memory.” New Zealand international defender Smith, who joined Colchester on loan today, said: “I was so pleased when I heard how much the shirt had raised and it’s nice to know the money is going to help those affected by the disaster." Proceeds from the auction are going to the Red Cross’s New Zealand Earthquake Appeal.
