Town Keen to Loan Chelsea Striker Guiu Thursday, 29th May 2025 15:02 Town are reportedly keen to sign Chelsea striker Marc Guiu on loan as part of the deal which will see Liam Delap move to Stamford Bridge.
As previously reported, Delap seems set to move to the West Londoners having recently held talks with a number of sides keen to trigger a £30 million relegation release clause in his Blues contract.
No deal is yet done between either the clubs - or the player and Chelsea - and, according to The Guardian, Town have indicated they’d like to take 19-year-old striker Guiu to Portman Road on loan.
Guiu is said to be unconvinced by the proposed switch as it stands, but whether that happens or not seems unlikely to prevent the Delap move from happening.
Granollers-born Guiu joined Chelsea in July 2024 from Barcelona after a €6 million release clause was activated, the striker signing a six-year deal.
Since then, 6ft 2in tall Guiu has made three Premier League sub appearances in addition to seven starts and four sub appearances in cups.
All six of his Chelsea goals have come in the UEFA Conference League, which the West Londoners claimed by beating Real Betis 4-1 in Wroclaw last night, Guiu coming on as an 88th-minute sub.

We may as well try get something as part of the deal. The release clause is way less than what we thought. He’s highly rated so looks a good move.

Guiu is said to be unconvinced by the proposed switch as it stands. That’s a bit of a shame to read, he’d be a quality loan if we can pull this off.

Hopefully he'll come, KM can weave his magic and he'll be keen to stay

If he’s unconvinced by the switch, I’d ask why? The chance to work under Kmc, arguably at a club that is going to push for promotion and not a million miles from where he currently plays. What’s the uncertainty, unless he feels he can make an impact in and around the Chelsea squad.

Obviously I’m biased but at this stage of his career it would surely be a good move? Playing under McKenna, a coach who improves most of the players he works with, and playing regularly in a top Championship team couldn’t do him any harm!

Guess players can be unconvinced at a time they don't know enough about the club they being touted to go on loan to . That can change once they learn more. But maybe its not even true about him being unconvinced. Just a rumour maybe?

Hopefully Ashton and Mckenna can sell the club to him. We need to inform him, that he could be part of something very special. What could be better than playing first team football most weeks,in front of a capacity crowd and hopefully being a key part of our journey back to the premiership at the first attempt. It's surely better than playing just 3 or 4 times for Chelsea in the League cup.

Castrosito. And here we go, "a chelsea fan who i know". .Strange how every time we're linked with a player, there's some1 who knows a fan of the player's club, who thinks he's rubbish.

Wikipedia gives you a good lowdown on MG. My take being, still obviously very young and inexperienced, if anything his career has been taking steps backwards rather than forwards. I'm sure we will have analysed his attributes in full, and if we think we can help him make forward steps again, then I'm ok with it. As for him being " unconvinced ", I doubt he knew even where Ipswich was till this season, or if it even existed! So I'll give him a pass on that one.

In my book something that sounds good on paper, but would be a disaster in practice. The championship is a completely different proposition and style of playing - he would get eaten alive and would probably be recalled pretty quickly after being benched.

Guiu is quality, but we have seen the Championship spit out quality before, and he may not want to take that chance....plus he is hardly or typical striker profile is he?! Would mckenna adjust the way we play as he ruled that out when we signed Szmodics! Gonna be an interesting summer!

Hirst has got to be our main striker if he stays fit.
