|Probably not as big a summer as last year, but....|
at 09:27 23 Apr 2022
The ins and outs of portman road this close season will be significant.
Those green shoots we have seen appearing since the new year need nurturing.
On top of that there is quite a list of players returning to the club from loans, leaving the club from loans.
How many of these will be retained and/or returning is unclear at this stage, although it doesn't appear to include tyreece Simpson.
I think when the dust has settled from this seasons fall out , there may not be too many retained from the returning loans, possibly Harper . Ndaba also deserves a chance, other than that, I think McKenna will look elsewhere.
A left sided player is yet AGAIN on our shopping list and this time we desperately need one which fulfills our needs as a team.
Strikers are equally important. A prolific and consistent goalscorer would solve so many problems.
Whether we stay with our current formation or go for 3 in Central midfield and 2 strikers is another option up for serious discussion this summer.
All in all a pivotal period for the club, McKenna will ultimately be assessed on the outcome next season.

Today , the run -in to the 2021-22 season really begins in earnest.
Itfc , find themselves 6 points from the play-off party . Our invitation waiting in the out-tray on the ability of our strikers to find scoring goals as second nature rather than a monthly treat.
If they can gain some confidence from an emphatic victory today and move forward against Lincoln with purpose , then maybe turning up late at the party will have some of those teams already waiting in the car park to look over their shoulders uncomfortably at the way our defence has been (almost) watertight since Mr mck arrived at portman road. Couple that with the re-unification of Morsy and Evans later this month and you find a strong case for optimism .
IF we can make it to the party.

The turmoil of Hurst , Lambert and Cook HAS to be over now.
No matter what we think of this new manager, ( and I know absolute zilch about him) we have to get behind him to a man and give him some time to put something cohesive together.
There is no other option.
Calling for another managerial change would just put us into a chop and change tornado of players and systems which will eventually destroy the entire club
We all saw the debacle of Wednesday, it is hard to see how any set of players can play any worse than that. Alot will be learnt from the team selection today we need to be seeing players WANTING to bust a gut to stay in this side and impress mckenna.
If we don't , then this new manager has to select those who do wear the shirt with pride and move on those who do not, and there could well be some big names with big reputations in that sec
Of the summer signings ( 19 in all ) I wouldn't give a place on the team sheet to any more than 4 or 5 on what I have seen to date.
A big job lies ahead for this young man, equivalent to being dropped in at the deep end in football manager terms.
We can only watch and see if he sinks or swims.
GOOD LUCK FELLA

A win today and we will be closing in on the top 6 and we'll be on the way to making a challenge .
I am not about to make a prediction of how that game will pan out. Suffice to say it is without doubt our stiffest test of the season to date.
Fact is , over the next month we will be met with similar obstacles to our progress and I would suggest the next two months will be our season shaper.
Two games each against Wycombe and Sunderland between now and New year would be enough in itself, add in Wigan and Rotherham to that time frame and you begin to get the picture.
How we will perform against those teams , will obviously tell everyone a great deal about where we are as a team and as a squad. Because the squad maybe the most vital factor in the weeks ahead. We have , unnamed injuries today at Plymouth. It is now approaching the time of year when they will bite hard, not only into our squad but everyone else's as well.
As I see it , we could manage 4 or 5 without taking too much away from the starting 11 , how that compares with others we are now about to discover.
If we can hold our current position into the new year, I sincerely believe we have an outstanding chance.
