Swansea Again Target Priskin Loan Wednesday, 23rd Mar 2011 22:03
Swansea have renewed their interest in taking Town striker Tamás Priskin on loan, according to sources in South Wales. The Swans, managed by Priskin’s former Watford boss Brendan Rodgers, targeted the 24-year-old last summer and just before Christmas.
Rodgers, who was in charge of the Hornets during Priskin’s most productive season in English football, is reported to have revealed that he is close to landing a loan striker ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline at a supporters' event this evening.
Town manager Paul Jewell has consistently bemoaned his side’s failings in front of goal but is unlikely to allow any of his strikers to move on until someone else comes in, with Priskin, Jason Scotland, another recent Swansea target, and Connor Wickham the only strikers currently in his squad.
Priskin failed to make much of an impact during his first season with the Blues, moving to QPR on loan in January 2010 having scored only twice in the first half of the 2009/10 campaign.
This campaign started more positively but the Hungarian international has been in and out of the side under both Jewell and Roy Keane and has still managed only seven goals, most notably the winner in the Carling Cup first leg victory over Arsenal.
Priskin, who is currently away with his national squad ahead of two games with Holland, is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2012.
Earlier today Jewell said he had made enquiries regarding loan players with a striker likely to be amongst his targets.
Meanwhile, Jewell and coach Sean McCarthy were spotted watching Colchester's 1-0 victory over Oldham on Tuesday.

Please stay priskin. we cant spend the rest of the season with only two strikers. scotland is rubbish and i think that you and connor are good upfront. we could possibly do a part exchange. say sinclair?

Unfortunately, Connor has only scored 6 goals this season so it would not be sensible or fair to load the whole club's promotion aspirations around one inexperienced player. I'll be shocked if we can get anyone to come on loan at this stage of the season whlie we are playing meaningless games.

He isnt the only 1 who has to go. About 4 of the senior defenders and 3 midfielders just for starters. Many thanks

How can you say Scotland is rubbish, Yes he is a little over weight but he still knows where the goal is and on chances he is the better striker out of the two. I like TP but he obviously isn't in PJ's plans so it's good to let him go and put himself on the market with a good run to the end of the season and lets face it, teams will be watching Swansea more than Ipswich at the minute due to where they are in the league so i think it would be a good move not only for TP but also for the town in offloading him in the summer.... But hey what do i know, thats just my opinion.

martelshamitfc: Just checked that link. Naaarwich are obviously going all out for it. Must be that Celtic link (didn't do us a lot of good though). If they go up we will never hear the end of it.

Was signed as an expensive finisher which is why we let Rhodes go and hasnt scored enough ,simple as that. has played under Keane ,Warnock and now Jewell in last two seasons and none have rated him enough to stick with him so get rid

It does seem that Norwich want to secure their place in the automatic promo slot. Makes me sick to look at the table really. I guess this season could have been worse and we could have been sat in the drop zone now, destined for league 1! I hope we can pull the plug on their promotion party, and affect their chances of a 2nd place finish. Watching them go through the heartache weve endured in the play offs the last couple of times would be bliss!

Priskin doesn;t score enough goals. His MOM performances have been when he's put in lots of effort - but sadly doesn't do it enough. Very inconsistent and overall not good enough. That said can't let him go until a replacement is signed.

You are all missing the point. If he goes there and is oustanding, scores 8 goals say.....The Nodge won't be going up automatically ;o)
