Message Board regular Peroxide has sent this report. Many thanks.

As I wandered along Charlton’s training ground I wondered why all the nets were up. It was then I noticed Lisbie trying to replicate his goal against us. Needless to say he didn't even test the keeper (though my car was in mortal danger).

On to the game, I've seen a few of the Town players for the reserves and know enough to realise that we have some potential. Town managed to waste a few chances in the first half mainly through Steve Burton and Matt Robinson who both look like young Scowies even down to the peroxide blonde hair.

Town did manage to do our normal trick of going to sleep at the back but some good keeping from Scott Peat and nice defending from Bonwick and Snowdon kept Charlton out. Town’s football was nice, neat pass and move except from Darren Ambrose who decided that running with the ball was the best way and her can run with it as well.

Town conceded and early sloppy goal in the second half when Erdem Artun's only bad pass of the match was to short for keeper Peat to clear and only hit Charlton's Jamie Martin and rebounded towards the open goal where Martin finished it off. By the way Charlton celebrated you'd have thought they had scored past Man Utd's first team. All the goal did was to get the best out of Town, from then on in it was all one way traffic.

Town kept the ball and kept passing it amongst themselves till the gaps appeared. The first was rasping right foot drive from Ambrose which the keeper could only parry into the net. The second followed soon when Town kept the pass and move going for about 15 passes before another gap appeared and the dangerous Ambrose placed a right foot shot in the bottom corner, so good the Charlton keeper didn't even move.

Ambrose continued his torment of Charlton by forcing James Campbell-Ryce to go two-footed from behind on him. Ryce picked up a yellow card and Ian Westlake floated in a left footed cross which was met at the back post by Matt Cox whose perfect downward header went straight into the net.

I've see Town get stuffed 7-1 and 5-1 at this level before, and you could see Town getting near to those scorelines. Again Ambrose taunted the Charlton backline and this time they chopped him down inside the penalty area - only one person to take the penalty and straight into the top left hand corner it went. A well deserved hat-trick, all in about 25 minutes as well.

It stayed 4-1 till the final whistle and to be fair to Town they stepped off the gas for the last ten minutes. It was difficult to find anyone who was bad, all them looked comfortable on the ball and were disgusted with themselves when the passes failed to reach other Town players. I'm going to single out Ambrose as my MOM simply as he took his goals well and has been the only Town player since Dyer who looks like he can at will run past defenders.

Lastly we may have found a long term replacement for Matty in Mark Mayes, he simply ran down every bit of turf and tackled everything cleanly. All in all a great way to start your weekend.
