TWTD understands that Town have been eyeing Hearts defensive midfielder Eggert Jónsson. The Icelandic international can also play at centre-half and at right-back.

Jónsson has been watched by the Blues on a number of times this season with Town boss Paul Jewell recently confirming that he has been looking at the Scottish market.

The 22-year-old ball-winner joined Hearts from Icelandic side KF Fjardabyggdar in July 2005, having made his senior debut as a 15-year-old, and broke into the Edinburgh club’s first team in the 2006/07 season.

Last season the Reykjavik-born player, who is contracted to his club until 2012, was named the Hearts Player of the Year in 2010.

Jónsson, 6ft 2in tall, has won eight full international caps, in addition to making appearances at U17, U19 and U21 levels.

Meanwhile, former Blue Tommy Miller has been released by Sheffield Wednesday, while ex-academy defender Lee Beevers is leaving Colchester with his deal also up.

I am liking this very much. Exactly what we need, and a bonus - he is still very young, but with quite a lot of experience! This could be a really good signing.

As my sister lives in Scotland and her husband is Hearts through and through so I've obviously seen this guy play a few times, He reminds me of a Matt Holland like player, Ok the goals aren't quite there like Matt but for work rate and distrbution of a football i would defo sign him up. He can also mix it up in a tackle as well, Not afraid to put his foot in, Remeber a game earlier in the season when he sat Scott Brown from Celtic on his arse and just looked at him as if to say ' give us a game' Good Spot from the scout if we get him......

Come on Mr Clegg don't let this one go....

I think this player could be a very good signing for us, he sounds decent and we need somebody like him to replace norris or leadbitter, even though he is from iceland. If you think about it, PJ has made a wise decision here as the scottish league is still as good as, or maybe even better than the championship.

I agree with IITFC1948, I watched this game through knowing that a post claims we are interested in this chap, I wouldn't normally watch Scottish football as it's not as technical or advanced as our two top flights in England. I sincerely hope this is a rumour as this chap was very ordinary. Started off at R/Back then went to r/mid in second half, and floated around Cen/Mid towards the end; and hardly touched the ball. When at R/Back he tried several long balls that just went in to touch. Edwards is far better in my opinion and I think he's really playing out of position.

Luke8644, I also signed him on FM2010 and he was great for me as well, I got promoted and finished 6th in Prem!!. That aside I think he could be a good signing - young and versatile. Well worth a punt, not sure how much Hearts would want for him though...
