First Signing Imminent?
First Signing Imminent?
Monday, 6th Jun 2011 08:55

Town are reportedly close to completing their first signing of the summer. The Blues have been in talks with a number of players since the end of the season but are yet to announce an addition to Paul Jewell’s squad.

If a deal is immediately on the cards as is claimed, there are plenty of candidates. Over the weekend, Town were said to be leading the chase for Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy, who is also understood to have spoken to Reading and Crystal Palace and may have been the player in talks at Portman Road just over a week ago.

Germinal Beerschot midfielder Faris Haroun, Tranmere left-back Aaron Cresswell and Sheffield United striker Ched Evans are just three of many players understood to have been interesting the Blues this summer, while Preston’s Keith Treacy, tipped to be joining the Blues on his return from international duty, is still with the Republic of Ireland ahead of their friendly against Italy on Tuesday.

Chief executive Simon Clegg is currently away representing the club at the Football League AGM in Cyprus.

Great news - unless it's Nyron Nosworthy - not in the same league as McAuley.

All those who don't like what Phil is doing on here.
It's a free site which means your not losing any money if you choose not to read it so if you don't like what you see 'Log Off'
no one is forcing you, your not getting annoying posts via email or through the post saying your bill is over due. No one owes you anything. Maybe a thank you now and again wouln't go amiss.
I for one like to know what is happening with my club and phil provides a good service so keep up the good work and i guess i speak for 90% of all that is on here.

what a surprise!!!! there are people on here criticising the player before hes even signed let alone kicked a ball. if it is nosworthy, give him a chance. just because he had a bad time at sheffield, in a struggling team, doesnt mean he'll be poor here 2. besides, if hes wearing the blue shirt then every1 should get behind him. in fact, that goes for any player we sign. some people just never happy unless theyre moaning. they moaning we not signing ne1, now it seems we about to, they still not satisfied.

Isn't Nosworthy left footed? I really think we need to sign a right footed CB to play alongside Delaney, especially if Edwards is at RB still next season as he needs covering a lot of the time.

Blues1, agree wholeheartedly - but that is standard practice.

And for anybody who may have taken my previous mail for criticism of the site, I am as grateful for the time taken by Phil in running the site as you are and my comments were at worst tongue in cheek.

We just all get a little tired of the constant hash/rehash/lack of info coming out of the club at the moment - I'm sure even Phil's not happy that he hasn't really got anything to report on and as a result has to resort to filler copy every day...

Don't criticise Phil.
Player is likely to be Nosworthy. If it is- I hope it is 1 of 9/10 signings before the season begins.....
With the best will in the world,- got to be better than Eastman if the intention is to have Nosworthy at RB.....

Never heard of Imminent? What's his first name? Is he foreign?

Tractorlowrie.

I was waiting for that post.....only took a couple of hours to come out. But Nice.

What you have to ask yourself is who and where do this team 'First' play? there the one's if you read the post again who are signing him....

I wonder if he's as good as Potential or Roumers, never seen them in the Dutch team though so must be up coming players.....

This time of year, there never is any "newsworthy news". So im more than happy to talk about rumours and who and might sign for my club.

Imminent is probably similar to the other transfers we get close to 'Couldnt agree terms'

Oh and the Cyprus gig is all paid for by Cyrpus - Air , Hotel and Food for all the League Chairmen - Malta did it last year and resorts queue up to host it !!? why? good question but they probably hope people stay on longer for a holiday ...

To quote Charlie Brooker: "If the internet gave free back rubs, there are people who would complain when its thumbs got tired."

This site covers all the news and, yes, the rumours about the club we love. If you don't like transfer rumours or opinions simply go to the official site and get your information from there.

Otherwise, bore off.

Clearly there is a huge effort to be made in bringing in anywhere from 5 to 8 new players over the next 6 weeks.

However, I think that PJ is a canny operator. He has grown into the role of football manager by working himself up through the leagues to the Premiership using limited resources. Once there, he was innovative and diligent in bringing in to his then club (Wigan) players from outside of UK football with the talent, desire and commitment to create a team that could punch above its weight.

I hope that he will bring the same formula to bear for Town.

I am unconvinced about many of the Championship footballers' names being bandied about as potential new signings. A mix of over-rated, over-aged, over-priced and over-paid.

I think Town fans with memories of watching Muhren and Thyssen, are hungry to see some more "Dutch" style football being played again at PR; not "punt it upfield and hope"

Phil, You cant just tell us that we will be exited by another signing (apart from the possibility of chopra and nysworthy). Give us a clue, is he a defender?

Don't have a go at Phil because of the lack of news. What do you want him to do, make it up?

If you don't like whats written here, there is a little white cross in a red box on the top right corner of the page. I suggest that you left click on that and go back to playing with your building blocks and crayons.
