![]() Tuesday, 14th Jun 2011 22:35 TWTD understands that League One Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Town striker Jason Scotland. The 32-year-old looks set to move on this summer with manager Paul Jewell having added Michael Chopra to his squad and with an offer in for another frontman. The Trinidad and Tobago international scored 10 goals in 35 starts and 10 sub appearances last season, having signed from Wigan for £750,000 in August, but failed to convince new manager Jewell that he is the man to fire the Blues back into the Premier League and his days at Portman Road appear numbered. Scotland, who has a year left on his Town contract, was close to returning to his former club Swansea on loan in February but the move broke down after the clubs were unable to agree a financial package. If they firm up their interest, Wednesday may also have trouble agreeing a deal with Town with the former Dundee United and Dunfermline man likely to be on a significant wage having joined the Blues from a Premier League club. Reading striker Noel Hunt continues to be linked, with a local Berkshire paper claiming that the Irishman, who was first mentioned in connection with the Blues on Monday, is the striker for whom Jewell has made an offer. Hunt is currently at a coaching camp in the US and has played down the reports via Twitter: "First I heard of it!" Jewell's former Wigan striker Nathan Ellington has also been linked by one of the tabloids in the wake of TWTD Message Board claims that he was the player at Portman Road on Monday. The 29-year-old is a free agent having been released by Watford after spending the second half of the season on loan at Preston. Meanwhile, Spurs right-back Adam Smith, who Town and a number of other Championship sides approached towards the end of the season while he was on loan at Bournemouth, says he’s yet to make up his mind about his future. Tottenham have now offered the 20-year-old new terms with his current deal up this summer but he says he could decide to move on to play senior football: “Spurs have offered me a new contract, but I'm not sure whether I want to stay there or not because I want to be playing regular first team football and reserve football isn't going to cut it really. "Going out on loan again is an option for me, but I've had offers from other teams about making a permanent switch, so I've got a big decision to make between now and the start of pre-season.” Elsewhere, Blackburn’s Jason Roberts has committed himself to Rovers having dismissed reports he was to join the Blues yesterday: “I am happy at Blackburn and I am looking forward to next season already.”
