Wickham Hoping for Action as Peters and Canada Crash Out Wednesday, 15th Jun 2011 08:56
Striker Connor Wickham will hope to be involved when England take on Ukraine in their second group game at the UEFA European U21 Championship tonight in Herning, Denmark (Sky Sports One/HD1 7pm). Elsewhere, Jaime Peters and Canada’s CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign has come to an early end with the Town man failing to play a single minute of the US-hosted tournament.
England drew their first game 1-1 with Spain with the Blues striker, who had suffered a minor ankle injury in training, left on the bench. Wickham has previously won three U21 caps.
Peters, who has 26 full caps, was again unused as Canada slipped out of the Gold Cup overnight. Panama scored a 91st minute equaliser which saw the final group game end 1-1 with the Canadians needing a win to go through.

Feeling sorry for Peters. His career appears to be going nowhere at the moment.

Peters with age is just becoming a 'Weeble' and what early promise he might have had has evaporated into mediocrity Sentiment shouldn't play any part, the guy hasn't got the required consistent ability at championship level or above and there is no position he can command as his own and full back is certainly not one of them. That is, if you want to build a successful winning team

You've got to feel sorry for him, it isn't his fault he has been asked to play everywhere on the pitch and not make a position his own, and now this. Wouldn't be at all suprised if he were to slap in a transfer request to get a fresh start somewhere where he might just get playing time in a settled position. At least he isn't injured.

I cant see any quotes saying he hopes to start... Doesn't every player 'hope' to start, bit of a non-story. CatsWhiskers. When has he consistently played for us to show that he has the "required consistent ability at championship level".....

sorry peters might sound a bit harsh but you have been played in many positions for town under different managers never nailed a regular place, plenty of effort but not quite good enough, maybe time for a fresh start.
