Coppinger Signs New Doncaster Deal
Coppinger Signs New Doncaster Deal
Thursday, 21st Jul 2011 10:17

Doncaster Rovers midfielder James Coppinger, a Town target earlier in the summer, has signed a new contract with the South Yorkshire club. In May, the Blues had a £300,000 offer for the 30-year-old rejected along with a £2.3 million bid for striker Billy Sharp.

Unconfirmed reports have claimed Town have made subsequent offers for the former Exeter man, but Rovers’ longest-serving player putting pen to paper on a deal until June 2014 would appear to end any hopes Paul Jewell had of signing the Guisborough-born winger.

I think we can now forget about Civelli coming good, I have watched him several times in reserves etc. he does not seem to improve very much at all. In these lower league games he should be running the show, but he just seems to get lost in the game and you forget he is playing half the time.

bluelady - sadly I fear players do not see Ipswich as a big step up anymore. Hopefully PJ can turn that around, but we know that despite 5 signings this Summer, players have favoured a move elsewhere. A shame but the way it is. We have not finished miles apart from Doncaster in recent years, so in actual fact there probably isn't too much in it. Sad but true.

where shall i start?holbrook blue, so you think like donny we're among the favourites to be relegated then? johnhazelbum, so we cant sign players then? every player we've spoken to this summer has signed for us. likewise emily jones, not 1 player has snubbed us(who weve been given permission to speak to).the beat, not 1 player has rebuffed us this summer. so where you all been then? clearly not in been taking much notice of what been happening. this time last year we'd signed 1 player, this year, already got 5, with ,im sure, more to come. so, dont make comments that dont stand up to scrutiny, they just make you sound stupid, which im sure your not.

What a load of tosh... This time last year we signed one player.... We had Wickham Norris Macauley plus loans.
It's pretty easy to sign age old free transfers on one year deals.
Why are we not getting to the players it's because we are not offering up enough cash same old theme.

Good old Whoppit, as usual as popular as a fart in lift!

As for Coppinger, from what I saw of him last season he was half a decent footballer, which to Doncasters credit they all seem to be however the guys 30, above average only and in my opinion wouldn't have been guaranteed a place. But what I love about pj is how streetwise he is. He seems to be a man who wants value for his money whilst still having plenty of irons in the fire, time will tell but were definately getting there people, have faith.

hmm doncaster rovers or Ipswich? clearly a man with ambition!

Your correct there, Doncaster have been ambitious with their squad building this summer. They are favorites to go down with the bookies but they will shock a few teams this season.

He's loyal to his club, thats what we all like isnt it? Many comments too negative, he does'nt lack ambition he's just happy where he is. Being happy can be an ambition, less of the sour grapes and move on.
