Jewell is a Chopra Buff
Jewell is a Chopra Buff
Friday, 5th Aug 2011 13:59

Striker Michael Chopra is an even better player than manager Paul Jewell thought when he signed him from Cardiff for £1.5 million earlier in the summer. The 27-year-old finally joined the Blues having previously been chased by his old Sunderland manager Roy Keane last summer.

Jewell says he has been impressed with what he’s seen of Chopra during the former England U21 international’s first few weeks at Portman Road: “He’s a terrific player Chopra, a better player than I actually thought.

“He’s got great movement, he’s quick, he can score a goal and he’s intelligent — on the pitch — so he’s got an awful lot going for him.”

The Blues boss will hope Chopra, who scored four times in pre-season, will continue his goalscoring form when the campaign proper starts at Bristol City tomorrow.

OK, good–now let's give him proper support: 442 with JET alongside Chopra.

I love the way Jewell clarifies his comment "he's intelligent" by quickly adding "on the pitch" ;)

Looking forward to the season now - hopefully Chops can bang in a couple

I really hope it works out with Chopra ploughing a lone furrow in a 433, flanked by Martin and JET, but he has said himself that he likes a strike partner and as soon as PJ brings in another wide man i think we will revert back to 442 where we will see the best of both him and JET. Would be great if we became adaptable enough to play both formations but I would settle for one of them at the moment.

we have bought ellington as his cover, scotland who was already cover, JET to play wide, Priskin to keep the bench warm and Murray to make the tea - for $£&% sake where is the 6ft stiker that Chops needs to play 'off' ?

give us clue which sport are you talking about? chopra could get 25 alongside a proper striker, as for Priskin he would struglle to get 20 goals in division 2 (aka 4th)

Roy. We didn't buy Priskin to keep the bench warm.

Power19. Right or right. Priskin and jet will be the power if played right!

let's hope so! but all the vibes coming from Playford Road is that JET is a wide man (competition for Martin), or to replace that so-called wideman we had, called Wickham
