Sonko Impressed With New Defensive Partner
Sonko Impressed With New Defensive Partner
Monday, 12th Sep 2011 16:15

Central defender Ibrahima Sonko was impressed with his new partner Danny Collins’s performance at Blackpool, despite the Blues’ 2-0 defeat. Collins, who played alongside Sonko with the Potters, joined Town the previous day on a 93-day loan and hadn’t even trained with the squad prior to the match.

Sonko said: “Danny did extremely well, so well in fact it looked as if he had been with the team since the summer!

"He was strong, he makes plenty of challenges and he talks a lot to the players. He knows a lot of the players anyway, so he's settled in really well.

"He came in and got on with the rest of the lads straight away and I'm sure his performances will get better and better."

Not too bothered about the results. Just happy to see the defence beginning to look more settled. I've kept on saying that 15 games in is when we start judging this team. On paper it looks good - but on grass, there are so many other factors that need to come into consideration. Unfortunately, this is not FIFA 11, and you cannot simply put 11 good players on the pitch and expect them to perform as a team. Hours upon hours of training ground drills are required, weeks of team bonding sessions are needed, and an understanding of how this group functions best as a team is also essential. If anyone for one moment is suggesting that the side that went down to Blackpool at the weekend is anywhere near as in-cohesive and uncoordinated as the ones that lost to Southampton and Peterborough, then maybe a moment of reflection is required. I have every confidence in this side, and results will come - give it time.

Another player; another partnership....according to my maths we've used 26 players this season. Can't be good can it?? Trust me, this is M Evans last roll of the dice - he's had one Priskin/Martin/Leadbitter/Ellington/Bullard/Bowyer/Kennedy etc etc too many.......what a payroll we have - we're the new Leeds circa 1999-2000 - many a good pension plan coming out of PR....

Murphy's wasn't the first shot on target, the stat men got that wrong, Chopra's first half effort was on target (should have scored).

I am baffled by your comments?
EDWARDS had a good game,..... he was unlucky to slip and allow Blackpools first Goal??????
The mans cra* out of his depth in that position and personally responsible for 90% of the goals against us.

There are many instances here of people opening their mouths before engaging brain. I listened to the match on Radio Suffolk, as I do every match, and the first half was encouraging. Some people seem to expect immediate success. That will not happen - FACT !! PJ has done his best and personally, I think he has done extremely well. At the end of the day, you cannot get away from the fact that the damage was done by RK. In a year and half, he destroyed any building blocks that we had. I think he knew he was going quite a while before he went, and deliberately made the situation worse by not negotiating new contracts for players worth keeping.

I still think that RK spent money on rubbish.
£1.7 m on Priskin - Couldn't hit a cows ar$e with a banjo.
£1.7 m on Martin - Village idiot.
£2.3 m on Headbutter - total waste of money.

He also sold players that he shouldn't have done. Specifically Jordan Rhodes.

P.J has been given a poison chalice, and he needs time to reverse all the damage that RK created.

So please??!! Give PJ some time to turn it around.

My username used to be KeanoWillDoIt and he certainly did!!

PJ starts by saving/succeeding with teams by being negative. Then second season fails by being negative. We are in the Jewell loop.
