Edwards Linked With US Move
Edwards Linked With US Move
Sunday, 11th Dec 2011 16:03

Town right-back Carlos Edwards has been linked with a move to the MLS and the LA Galaxy by one of this morning’s tabloids.

The 33-year-old Trinidad and Tobago international’s Blues contract is up at the end of the season, although he has indicated that he would like to stay with Town when his current terms expire.

Edwards’s Soca Warriors team-mate Chris Birchall is already amongst David Beckham and Robbie Keane’s team-mates at the Galaxy.

Elsewhere, the Blues and Southampton continue to be mentioned in connection with Doncaster striker Billy Sharp, while Swansea are said to be eyeing Preston frontman Jamie Proctor, has previously been linked with Town.

If it means we have a proper RB in the mould of Cresswell then cheerio!

Happy for him to be RM, but costing us too many goals in defence.

About as much use as tits on a nun at right back

To be joined by Kennedy, Ingimarsson and Leadbitter at the very least.

lost count how many times the left winger of barnsley drifted passed him without Carlos seeming bothered about it. he was also at fault for the second goal. apart from an odd 25yard screamer i wouldn't miss him.

People seem to forget Carlos is not a right-back but a midfielder being played out of position.

Watching him in the home game against in September he was at the centre of virutally every attack. Give the guy his due and show some respect.

Jewell desperately needs a couple of natural right backs personally, but I think Edwards performances would be better on the wing.
I see Matthew Lowton is being linked with other championship clubs now :/.
I can't put into words how much I would love billy sharp at our club!!!

Isn't L.A. very much a 'car city'??? In which case it probably doesn't suit our Carlos, now does i?

lots of people seem to have a real grudge against carlos , he is honest and hardworking, that can be said about him, would still like him at the club playing in his best position,(right midfield) he has a good game going forward, but can get it so wrong in defence.... coyb

he would be pretty stupid to pick the usa over suffolk, what sort of cyder can you get in LA ? rubbish thats all, and as for suffolks fine ales and pies how does a hotdog and a coke or some sugary whiskey and a taco replace that ?

He certainly does do a maverick in defence: "put on the brakes and let them fly right on by " but, going forward I thought he really did expose barnsley's weak underbelly.

Can't believe the stick Carlos is getting on here. He isn't even supposed to be a right back, but as far as I'm concerned, he's always done his best wherever he's been played. OK, he does make mistakes in this position, but often he's been left exposed by those in front of him. And at least he's posed a bit of a threat going forward from time to time, which is more than can be said for most of our attacking players. If he had played in his natural position further up the field and still not performed, then perhaps we could complain. But he's been a stop-gap full-back and he's done the job as best he can. I'd still play him right wing above most of the other candidates for this place in our squad.

^Steve, agreed ! Like to see him given a run in his natural position. And if somebody says we can't as there's no cover at the back, well that isn't his fault !

Good, can you take him early? Never a right back, gets lost up field and relies on others to cover him. A lot of the defensive problems spring from Edwards, winger maybe, RB never.

Let him go, he's the weak link in defence (which is a bit harsh as he's very good going forward, a natural right winger but in no means a defender)
I still can't believe we've not got a RB on a permanent deal and haven't had one since David Wright left, but that's yet another of Roy Keanes strange transfer dealings which in my view is the problem with the rot that's still being dealt with by Jewell.

Steve ITFC Sweden too right he's never once complained about being out of position, unlike JET who when he's not played in his favourite position behind chopra seems as if he cant be arsed, plus theres a lot of players in this team making loads more mistakes than carlos in their proper positions

He has cost us countless goals as he is NOT A NATURAL RB and any half decent team /Manager exposes that - Billy Jones from West Brom - get him in

I agree with many that Carlos is not great at RB, but sadly he is the best option that we have in that position. I think both RK and PJ have missed a trick in not bringing in a permanent proper RB and out of all the players linked none appear to be in that position which is a worry. Not sure you can lay all our defencive issues at his door as I don't think we have effective midfield protection either.

I don't blame Carlos however as he is clearly playing out of position and is far more effective on the wing.

Oh and Ilewej_tuo - please just go away

Edwards is probably one of our quickest and most skillful players who plays as a full back when midfiled is his prefered position. I cannot believe that town fans want rid of our most consistent performer.
Agree he had an off day against Barnsley but he shouldn't be picking up their main goal threat from set pieces when we have two large centre backs.
Some people have obviously forgotten the woeful defending by Cresswell in recent games. He is a long way from the finished article.

His best days are behind him, he's no good playing in the position as right back because he can't defend for toffee. Probably most useful to us as a substitute on the right in midfield as a winger. Otherwise let him go!
