Andrews in Contract Termination Talks at Blackburn
Andrews in Contract Termination Talks at Blackburn
Wednesday, 25th Jan 2012 11:48

Former loanee Keith Andrews is reported to be in talks with his current club Blackburn regarding the termination of his contract. The 31-year-old has 18 months remaining on his lucrative deal but doesn’t want to play for the Ewood Park club again.

Wigan are understood to be heading the race for the Ireland international’s signature, while Blues boss Paul Jewell admitted that with Premier League clubs interested, Andrews is unlikely to be returning to Portman Road. Leeds United are also being linked.

Meanwhile, Crewe midfielder Nick Powell is concentrating on his game despite all the talk about his future with the Blues understood to have made an unsuccessful offer for the 17-year-old last week: “People tell me about speculation but I just try to ignore it.

“I am a Crewe player and want to do well and hopefully get the club into the play-offs. That’s the aim. At this stage of my development it is important to be playing week in, week out.

“There is a learning process to go through, physically and mentally. This is the best club for me now.

“I am hoping to add a lot more to my game. I hope to score more goals — I am aiming for 12 this season.”

The Railwaymen continue to claim Town haven’t made a bid, while the Blues are not believed to have made a second offer for the England U18 international so far.

Elsewhere, former loanee Giovani Dos Santos is in advanced talks with Villarreal with his unhappy spell at Spurs finally appearing to be coming to an end.

And finally, there seems little likelihood of reports of Town loan interest in Manchester United's Michael Owen having any substance to them.

This article pretty much sums up the current state of the club. We are talking about Andrews - who won't be joining us. Dos Santos - who won't be joining us and a youngster from crewe, whose manager thinks we are not good enough for him and who is unlikely to join us.

It's the 25th Jan - we needed re-enforcements for the start of the month - where are they?? Dark days - led by a terrible manager.

Silence, does that mean we're talking to Warnock? Hope not.

It is Phil reporting on these stories, nothing to do with the club. The comment attributed to PJ was from a previous interview.

That's what I love about the transfer window - the certainty that a lot stuff will be said...

Back to sleep.

This is like a bad dream - surely I'm going to wake up to find our young players signed up and some previously unmentioned signings brought in? They can't be this inept can they? Surely Jewell isn't the muppet that his selections, signings and press conferences suggest? Please!

We couldn't attract flies to a fresh turd, let alone sign a half decent player..

Our lack of progress in anything is becoming increasingly depressing, bumped into an old aqaintance of mine the other day who just happens to be a budgie, that was fun............told him I'm still proud, he said but seriously it must be hard, I replied oh yes!
Sums it all up, Andrews wont come here, as northstand says, if we were turd the flies would still avoid us.

The report in the eadt about Carson backs up the post on here who said he was a blood relative of Carson.

Sums up jewell in one and what has happened at this club and team. I know people wore rose tinted glasses for rk but how jewell us still being defended and supported god only knows.

Just remember, 8 points from 45 and 2 wins in 16. Must be a bit if a blip and bad luck but he is still a good manager!! And what happened at derby?

Settle down people ... we can now be fairly certain we are not going to sign anyone permanently, will probably get a couple of has-been loans who just don't care anymore, will keep Jewell in employment at least until the end of the season which will result in relegation and our good name shattered.

Hey ho happy days friends ... get used to the idea and relax!

I would be more concerned if there were 3 days remaining of the transfer window. In that scenario, I think you'd be proved right and we would sign a couple of experienced players on loan. We are still in for these players. Portsmouth need cash fast and we need these players desperately.
What concerns me a lot is the fact that we DO need this sorted. As deadline day nears--other clubs are going to come in for other Pompey players and they will be able to raise the cash that way. Leaving us with nothing as we don't seem to have plan B/C.

It shouldn't never have come to this, any decent manager would have already solved this issue, not leaving it to this point. Even if we get some one in on Friday they will only train with them once.

And if we don't get anyone where do we go.

Would still like to know on what basis and evidence jewell can do this job, it goes deeper than a couple of defenders. Our neighbours up the road went through Worthington, roeder and gunn before Lambert.

No point in sticking with some one for the sake of it if they can't do the job, and the current man is not up to it.
