Jewell Watches Pompey Trio In Action - Updated Saturday, 28th Jan 2012 17:20
Town boss Paul Jewell was at London Road to watch his trio of Portsmouth targets — Jason Pearce, Joel Ward and Stephen Henderson — play the full 90 minutes as Pompey beat Peterborough United 3-0 in the Championship this afternoon, Pearce (pictured) heading home the second from a corner.
Talks between the clubs are understood to be continuing with the Blues believed to have offered £2 million for the three players.
Elsewhere, Tyrone Barnett, another player being eyed by the Blues, was in the Crawley side which won 1-0 at Hull City in the fourth round of the FA Cup. We understand Town had a scout watching the game.

We should go for the other Crawley striker, Matt Tubbs. Eighteen goals this season!

Pompey will wait until the death before they crumble. I'm more concerned that they all sound like they want to stay - f**k knows why! PJ should give them til Monday lunchtime and then go elsewhere otherwise it could be fatal. I want all three but we can't risk it being last knocks Tuesday before it may happen

They will want to stay because even with all the problems we have, we are still a better club than yours, the reason you have not heard anything is because the offer is ridiculous. It won't change our situation, it will just leave us short of players. So F"""k of and rip someone else off.

I watched Posh v Portsmouth today and obviously took a strong interest in these three players. While the Portsmouth defence was never really tested, Pearce was clearly the organiser in the back line - he appears to be very vocal and kept the defence in shape. Henderson didn't have a lot to do, but his kicking, handling and positioning all seemed sound. Ward played in the left wing today and was quiet - he's very right footed, so struggled to make an impact. I guess we'll have to trust PJ and the scouts on this one!

How the f..k Stevet r they a better club than us lol. Portsmouth have been punching above their weight for some time now. No wonder they r in such a mess. A meager but loud support, a bog standard ground, and no history. They have more lives than a cat lol

Whilst the players may not want to leave, it might be a case of the club telling them you have to go or we fold? The first 2 bids were rejected quickly so the fact this one is still on the table means there is still a chance it could happen, it all depends on how things are going financially at the Portsmouth end. The problem however is how long do we wait before moving onto other targets, if the deals cannot be done that will leave us either with what we've got currently or more uninterested loanees from second week in Feb, neither of which appeals particularly

It wouldn't hurt getting some Crawley lads in. Just have a feeling this deal is never going to happen. We should go for the Crawley striker, Matt Tubbs.

Better club - yeah right! Such a good club that you have a new owner every year (and bad ones at that), and pay mercenaries over the top wages! We too have bin ripped off many times in the past so your not alone. Even the court case going on at the moment involves two of your clowns and dealings that were done when they were there!

It will have to be loanee route once again I think, cos I don't think we stand a cat in hells chance of getting these 3 Pompey players. Our league position a lot to do with that I'm afraid. So plan B will be to get in 2 CB's on loan to try and keep us in this division. Fail to do this and we are relegated, simple as that!

Can we sign them then loan Delaney and Leadbitter to Pompey... Everyone happy.

ha ha , If you were a Pompey fan would you be happy with that ?

Pompey squad is too small. They'll have to bring in new players before considering selling these 3 players. Pompey facing financial difficulties but the team could still muster a convincing 3-0 win. Shame on current crop of town players! Trio unlikely to leave. PJ has to deal with plan B quickly

whys everyone saying about the portsmouth squad being too small to sell players? if they have to sell then they will sell anyway. besides that is the fact they can get loan players in cheaply. it may not be ideal but it will allow them put a team out when it comes to the crunch!

I'm more concerned that Crawley beat Hull and we lost to Hull. For me there appears to be plenty of talent in the lower leagues, it is just a question of trying and able to get them in. MK Dons got a few young hungry players like Crawley who look good and we are still after 3 players who do not want to leave their present club. Finally even if Pompey agree to sell, can we agree personal terms in time for the deadline. Of Course not. These three will not be coming. Be lucky to get one. Should have tied up 2 CB's and 1 RB by now, and stop buying midfielders. Looks like we planning for life in Div 1 with lots of the clubs current crop leaving at the end of the season when their contracts expire.

Pointless. If PJ doesn't know what they are like by now - why put in an offer? Sounds like a jolly to me. Will these Pompey players want to join us - under PJ we have LOST 12 of our last 16 GAMES. It's a pitiful record where at any other club the manager would have been sent packing and long before now. PJ OUT!

Portsmouth might have to accept our bid but will we have 3 player's that are happy to come here and play for us though !!

I believe we'll get at least 2 out of the 3, all those saying they won't come let me tell you, money talks, they'll have far better long term prospects here than at Portsmouth. I appreciate our current position in the league is precarious but we won't go down and next season with Januarys additions and more in the summer plus clearing out all the rubbish that Keane & PJ brought in, which appears to be underway now, we can have plenty to look forward to next season.

can we loan them Edwards and Leadbitter to sweeten the pot. Maybe loan them a couple of youngster's so they get championship experience?

Heard from a very reliable source that all 3 players are desperate NOT to join the club! Can't blame them really!
