Portsmouth Triple Deal Talks Continue
Portsmouth Triple Deal Talks Continue
Tuesday, 31st Jan 2012 15:17

Town continue to work on their triple move for Portsmouth’s Jason Pearce, Joel Ward and Stephen Henderson with negotiations set to go all the way to this evening’s 11pm deadline.

Despite the trio all being in Hampshire this morning, talks between the clubs and involving Pompey’s parent company’s administrator have continued behind the scenes and claims that the deal is all but dead are somewhat premature.

Town could still land one, two or all three of their targets with just under eight hours of the window remaining.

A source close to Pompey told TWTD earlier that versatile midfielder or defender Joel Ward was the most likely of the three to sign, although wasn’t ruling out any of the trio making the switch to Portman Road.

Portsmouth need to sell players due their ongoing financial problems which saw them issued with a winding-up order last week. Winger Ryan Williams looks set to join Fulham for £500,000 but they would appear to need to raise significantly more than that with HMRC owed £1.6 million in unpaid PAYE.

Even if all aspects of the deal (or deals) aren’t sorted before tonight’s deadline, Town have previously signed players such as Alan Quinn and Jon Stead on loan initially with the details of a permanent switch completed in the days afterwards.

We understand no other deals, in or out, are currently ongoing.

Would think that if they are going to announce the signings it will be all or nothing, so for all we know one/two of the 3 could be done,Patiance

We'll end up with McManus (who now struggles with injuries) while Norwich pull off a major coup and sign Jordan Rhodes.
What a total shambles our club is in...
Massive debt, Shambolic Defence, Terrible Coaches and the only club we can beat to signings is Crawley Town.
Appalling transfer window so far. We've put everything into the Portsmouth deals and they are sinking first.
We have become a laughing stock as a club.

i do not blame jewell one bit. he was interviewed in the first week of the window saying hes got a huge list of targets but the transfers are out of his hands as all he does is enquire. being the chief exec it is Clegg's responsibility to follow up those targets and talk to the clubs personally. so far we have signed two players, one on loan and one who was mainly signed by jewell. CLEGG OUT. he knows nothing about football. dont want to sound negative but something must be done about this man.

Don't panic, the loan window opens next week and we can get the guy from Norwich, he's over 30 and crap so he fits the bill perfectly, I just cannot fathom why people are still supporting Jewell, he has shown himself to be equally as incompetent as the previous manager, it makes you wonder how Evans has made his money as he appears to be equally incapable of making any correct decisions, its high time the supporters showed their displeasure by boycotting the games.

Mcmanus is a good player, but his knees have given out. We simply won't be able to play him every week.
We need to get a sense of perspective here. We need to be above 3 other clubs at the end of the season. We need enough to ensure that is the case.
Perhaps McManus + one other older centre-half so they can rotate due to injuries etc alongside Sonko. May prove all we can do right now.
We still have a few hours. I hoped it would be sorted before now though.

hogster1970....

how is a football club with no direct commercial relationship to the olympics of any use as a marketing platform for the olympics? Seriously confused.....
