Pompey's Pearce Unsure About Future
Pompey's Pearce Unsure About Future
Monday, 19th Mar 2012 13:02

Portsmouth central defender Jason Pearce admits that he doesn’t know whether he’ll be the next player to the leave the crisis club. Town, Southampton and West Ham are amongst the sides understood to be interested in the 24-year-old, who was the subject of unsuccessful bids from the Blues and others prior to the closure of the January transfer window.

Since then, a number of Pompey players - including another of Town's January targets Stephen Henderson - have left on loan with a view to summer permanent deals in order to raise cash for the administration-hit club.

Pearce, along with the Blues’ third transfer window target Joel Ward, is amongst those who could join the exodus before the loan deadline on Thursday with Town manager Paul Jewell confirming that Portsmouth have been in contact regarding which players are available.

The former Bournemouth skipper admits that he is in the dark about his future: “I don’t know what’s going to happen and I don’t know if they have to sell me or what.

“I’m a Portsmouth player, I’ve got a contract here and I’m going to give my all to this club until I’m told differently.

“I haven’t been told any differently at the moment, so I would think I will be here but it could be out of my hands.

“I’ve come through the ranks here and I hold this club really close to me. It would be really sad to go.

“All I know is that every day in training and every game I am lucky enough to play, I will give my all as I always do.”

Meanwhile, Norwich City fans are reported to have been behind vandalism to the Sir Bobby Robson memorial garden near to St James' Park after the Canaries' 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday. The graffiti was removed by Newcastle City Council workers this morning.

I hope the catch the budgies 'fans' behind the vandalism and deal with them appropriately, the budgies should have to pay for the costs or clean up / repair, and ban the scroats from football for at least ten years. On a weekend when football is pulling together after the Muamba tragedy, to do this to one of the games greatest ambassadors memorial is lower than low...... whether he is an ITFC great or not, its totally out of order and proves what true idiots some 'fans' are.........

Couldn't agree more Roosseden. By the way I think the word is scrote! This definition explains why and well chosen by you for those budgies.
scrote n.
"An obnoxious half-wit who resembles many of the qualities of the unwashed male scrotal sack. i.e. smells, rather funny looking, leathery appearance with random tufts of hair sprouting forth."

Not my usual type of view, but I think we should be allowed to give the Budgie morons a good leathering. Beside the fact he was ITFC to the core, Sir Bob was a thoroughly good chap.

dusth for the second explanation part of your post, if I didn't know what it was about I would have asked if your were trying to describe a Norwich fan lol.
How would this bunch of sacks like it if we defaced and drew graffiti all over Delia?

On such a sad weekend for football with Fabrice Muamba fighting for his life and all fans praying that he gets well, Scum fans do an act like this to one of the gentlemen of football.
The Premier league should dock the club 10 points. I bet there is no report of this on about Anglia or Look East tonight.

AlexGreen added 14:26 - Mar 19
Docking the club ten points is a bit harsh! Just like all Ipswich fans weren't behind the Brighton banner (not comparing the two incidents at all), not all Norwich fans vandalised the statue. I'm sure that if you asked 100 Norwich fans a minimum of 99 would be as appalled as us

Would love to have Pearce at Town. Could just be the man we need to make our defence solid with a new GK.

Norwich should pay for the damage, they only did it through jealousy at having absolutely nobody in over 100 years ever to bring enough success to build their own statues hahaha i pity them!!

IM sure pearce would fit in very nicely here the question is does he really want it and a move to Suffolk to boot...personally I think Pearce should be making some of the running as this club needs people who are determind to be here like Stevens!!!as we have a premier push next season we dont want people here holding the club to ransom what I see on the pitch is great right now and we have depth and back up Carson Bullard Sonko etc... on the bench Hyam just to name a few but we do need to improve the squad we can definalty nail this leauge but the Premier is a differnt story right now player wise although I would say many on the pitch right now could and will stay and play for us in the Premier.

In relaton to the vandals well you cant tar them all with the same brush just idiots who wear Norwich Colours Im sure the Norwich Directors/owners feel ashamed of these supporters and will go some way to apologise to Newcastle Im sure... Bobby was a great great man something these little boys no nothing of...

Some bloke has been arrested for tweets about Muamba plus these Norwich idiots.
You only have to look at the way so called Ipswich fans make comments about clegg, Jewell, Leadbetter or watch the way opposing fans shout W***er to players when they shoot wide (ie Torres)
Its a game of football a game to be enjoyed.

I am afraid its not a minority anymore its the majority

Pearce is a very good player. We desperately need 2 x CB's and a permanent No. 1 keeper in the Summer. Then again, we needed the same last year but PJ failed - and still has failed - to address this.

This Summer should be very busy indeed. It's very possible that all three remaing CB's leave the club (contracts up). We know McCarthy will leave - add to that Leadbitter and Bowyer (one year deal up) - and with Murphy returning to Celtic (doubt we will be able to afford his wages) we need re-inforcements. Also, there is NO cover at LB or RB. Then there is the strike force. With Priskin paid off and Scotland very likely to leave - that just leaves Chopra!

Lots of work for PJ to do. Personally I don't think he is up to it (based on previous 14 months of transfer dealings) - but time will tell and I wish him luck - as in theory we probably need eight or nine new players (assuming out of contract players leave - along with loanees).

Shocking act of mindless vandalism by the Norwich scum. (I think it is fair to brand these individuals scum - but i am sure as mentioned previously the majority of real Norwich fans would be embarrassed by this act) Doesnt matter who the person is, if someone has died (famous or not) and there is a memorial in their memory you have to be pretty low to disrespect it in this manner! That is somebodys husband, father, friend as well as being an England legend and geniune nice guy!

The record has got stuck again Jas - boring, boring, boring! I accept that Pearce is a good defender but we need people whose hearts are here and there are other fish in the sea. Next year we have a mammoth task on our hands and we need the type of people we have playing at the moment who have turned out well so, once again well done Paul Jewell on that score, but we need a probable addition of three similar minded, gifted defenders. Regarding the disgraceful episode at Newcastle, why blame Norwich as a club? I have a lot of friends who are City supporters and they are exactly the same as us and will feel as disgusted as us. Every club has some less than nice people including us because I can remember handling some very unpleasant happenings from our own supporters. COYB

As a football club you have to be somewhat responsible for your 'fans'...... I just think Narwich should foot the bill, find out who was there doing it and ban them, its probably in their interest to do so, no club wants these moron in their stadium...... I hope if the boot was on the other foot we would ban such idiots..... if i remember we recently did for a twitter outburst.......

A better idea would be for Norwich to send a few £k's to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation. Nice gesture and their fans would love that.

makes my blood boil...ok he IS an Ipswich legend and budgie supporters MUST be jealous he had no connections with their club but to do that to a memorial garden is as about as low as you can get! - find out who they are and throw away the key!

Every club has its mindless minority, but the actions of this particular bunch highlight how pathetic Norwich's past achievements have been that they still feel overshaddowed by Sir Bobby.

I wonder if they cry at night when their lights get turned off?

Fans of Norwich City?...............good luck to the club then, you can keep them if that is how they conduct and represent their club.

we should raise a small army of 10-15 thousand of our finest ipswich men and march to norwich and burn the city to the ground, gather the citizens into a line of handcuffed naked prisoners and banish them from englands fine and pleasant lands to somewhere cold and wet and miserable.... scotland would be ideal.
