Chopra Confident He'll Reach 20-Goal Target Saturday, 24th Mar 2012 09:14 Top scorer Michael Chopra is confident he can reach his 20-goal target by the end of the season. Chopra netted his 14th of the current campaign to clinch Wednesday’s 1-0 home win over Burnley as Town extended their recent revival and made it seven wins, two draws and just one defeat from their last 10 outings. Last summer’s £1 million capture from Cardiff now has nine games in which to find the net a further six times if he is to reach the target he sets himself every year. Chopra, 28, said: “I believe I can do it. Six goals in nine games isn’t impossible and it’s not as if I’m not getting the chances. “It was frustrating the other night against Burnley. Great to get the winner, of course, but afterwards I was thinking I could have had at least one more. “Their keeper made a good save from Aaron Cresswell’s shot and I was quick to react for the rebound. I couldn’t have done much more but he’s made a terrific save.” Chopra failed to score in last Saturday’s 3-2 home win over Peterborough, although he struck the bar and only narrowly failed to convert two first-half headers. He added: “The other players are putting some great balls into the box. It’s my own fault if I don’t stick the ball in the net and they would be entitled to have a go at me if I miss the chances they are creating. “I don’t feel I’m very far from being at my best. The more games I play, the better I will get, and at least I’ve still got the knack of being in the right place at the right time. I feel confident that every time I go out there I’m going to get at least one goal.” Photo: Action Images
