Player of the Year Voting Open
Player of the Year Voting Open
Tuesday, 10th Apr 2012 09:52

Online voting is now open for this season’s Supporters Club Player of the Year award. The winner will be named at the Player Awards Evening which takes place on Saturday 21st April at the Cameo Hotel (previously Hotel Elizabeth) in London Road, Copdock (doors open 6.30pm).

There are three ways of voting for your Town Player of the Year:

1. Text message - Send a text message to 60070, beginning your message "ITFC" and then - after a space - the name of the player you are voting for, for example, "ITFC Kuqi". Texts cost your standard network rate for SMS. Please get permission from the person who pays the bill.

2. Online - Go to www.itfcsupporters.co.uk and cast your vote as in previous years.

3. At the ground — The Supporters Club will be collecting votes around the ground before the final home game of the season against Millwall.

The Supporters Club are looking for volunteers to help collect votes at that match. If anyone is able to help they should contact Elizabeth Edwards at itsc78@btinternet.com or on 07968 876504.

Last year’s Player of the Year was Jimmy Bullard with Gareth McAuley in second and Connor Wickham in third.

The first team squad and coaching staff will be at the Player Awards Evening where in addition to the Player of the Year trophy being handed over to the winner a host of other awards and debutants' tankards will also be handed over.

Tickets cost £20 and are available from Irene Davey, 10 Lambeth Close, Ipswich, IP1 4DX (please enclose a cheque payable to Ipswich Town Football Club Supporters Account and a SAE) or via Elizabeth Edwards at the contacts above.

Further details, including information on discounted hotel rooms, on the Supporters Club website.

I'm going for Graham Harbey, he would cure all of our fullback woes?

Well, those were the awards when I was 10 years old....not sure why they bother with these silly awards at professional clubs with grown men, though imo!!

Player of the year has become a poisned chalice in recent years with form going or the player leaving .
Cresswell walks it for me ,Murphy a not so close second ,no one else worth mentioning

JAS we agree......yipeeeee! totally agree with your view on this. Edwards has my vote and will get it again at the ground a week on Saturday. Cresswell has done well too, but Edwards has stuck shown commitment in every game i have seen him play, lets hope he gets to show his class as a winger next season.

I'd go for Bluey - always optimistic on the sidelines and is there at every match and then perhaps Edwards a tad behind.

Well this one really is about opinions, as some have mentioned there is not a stand out candidate for this year. i cant help feeling many will be voting with their hearts, how many will vote with their heads? The Edwards scenario is good point, if the award is for application, for fitness, for total commitment, Always giving 100%, being a good captain and a decent pro footballer, Seems a decent guy as well, then he would get my vote too, But he is not a rb, his positional sense at times is non-existent and he has made far too many costly errors throughout the season, errors that have cost us games. A goalkeeper making that amount of errors, would not be considered for player of the season would he?
Dont get me wrong i like him, he has many good points and i am glad he signed a new contract, he has been asked to play there and he has done his best at all times no doubting that. I just wonder if him winning the fans player of the year will send the wrong message to the club and perhaps decide against a dedicated RB. i hope not, i respect everyones opinion, but please vote with your heads...
We need square pegs in square holes and round pegs in round holes.
I for one, want to see us with the meanest defence in the championship next season, it cant happen with make shift Defenders....
My vote is for Cresswell, has stepped up a level, come into the team and made this position his own, A young man who is going to improve and has been in the main a consistent performer, has had to show real maturity at times , in what has been a woeful defense, remember this should be for the season and not the last dozen games....Coyb

Carlos or Aaron Cresswell for me?

Cannot decide.

No one else will come close.
Keith Andrews played a massive part earlier in the season that shouldn't go un noticed.

Has to be Edwards or Cresswell - although Edwards deserves it - Cresswell will probably benefit most from it in times of a confidence boost.
