Burke's Northern Ireland Lose
Sunday, 22nd Jul 2012 10:36

Town midfielder Cormac Burke, 18, was in the Northern Ireland U20 side which lost 5-3 to Chile at Ballymena Showgrounds in their opening game in the Elite section of the Milk Cup yesterday.

The match had been scoreless at half-time before a second half goalfest with the South Americans running out the victors.

Burke, who is yet to be involved at first team level for the Blues and has a year left on his contract, and his Northern Irish team-mates next take on Mexico in Coleraine on Monday before the semi-finals and finals.

Elsewhere, former Blues keeper Cody Cropper, who has been on trial with Southampton, skippered the US U20s as they lost their first game of the tournament 1-0 to Denmark.

Want to see Burke pushing for a first team place. Maybe a loan move to League 2 would benefit him. If hes not got it then release him sharpish Jewell!

Dangerous ploy fussysnake, if Jewell loans him people will moan about the loan window and not giving him a chance and if he sells him people will moan he never let him achieve his potential and insist he could have been a major part of a itfc team although they will have never seen him play :P

Players like Burke will only get better if they are given regular first team football. My only criticism against PJ is that some players are awarded more chances than others with younger players being more harshly treated.

Saying that only good performances will see him in the first team so if he has the ability as well as the attitude then hopefully he will break into the first team
