![]() Wednesday, 29th Aug 2012 11:22 Academy striker Cory Galvin came on as a 59th minute sub as the Republic of Ireland U17s beat Azerbaijan 3-0 in a friendly in Castlebar yesterday. Galvin joined the Blues’ youth set-up as a full-time scholar in the summer. The Irish youngsters take on the same opposition in another friendly on Thursday at the same venue as they prepare for European Championships qualifiers in Macedonia next month where they will take on Sweden and Romania as well as the hosts. Galvin’s U18s team-mates continued their good start to the season at Cardiff on Saturday morning, defeating the Welshmen 4-1 with Jack Marriott — who netted a hat-trick in last week’s 4-1 opening day home victory over Swansea - scoring twice, Mark Timlin and Cemal Ramadan once each.
