Blackpool Defender Linked
Wednesday, 29th Aug 2012 17:32

Town are reported to be interested in Blackpool left-back Bob Harris. The 25-year-old joined the Tangerines on a free transfer from Queen of the South in his native Scotland last summer but has made only nine starts and one sub appearance for the Seasiders, none so far this season.

Blackpool are said to been keen to keep hold of 5ft 8in tall Harris, who also played for Clyde early in his career, but may be willing to allow the Glaswegian to move on loan to gain experience with the Blues and several other clubs believed to be interested.

Town are short on cover for Aaron Cresswell, but with the former Tranmere man established as the Blues’ left-back Harris would have limited opportunities to play if he were to move to Portman Road, as things currently stand.

Aston Villa appear unlikely to follow up last month’s enquiry for Cresswell with Middlesbrough’s Joe Bennett the left-back Paul Lambert is currently looking to add to his squad.

Last week, the Blues were linked with Liverpool youngster Jack Robinson and he and Harris may be viewed as potential targets should Villa or another club show serious interest in Cresswell.

Uh oh. If Cressy stays, I don't see how this benefits us or the player. He won't get any first team opportunities here while Cresswell is around. Sincerely hope this doesn't happen. Seems like an odd link all in all.

Saw him on TV against Southampton last season, was full of energy and looked decent going forward but did concede a penalty early on!. That's the only time I've seen him play though but would be decent cover for Cressy if he came.

I can't see him wanting to come as a backup for Cresswell, but we do need someone to cover left-back as if Cressy gets an injury what do we do?!

It wouldn't surprise me if this does happen - after all we don't a recognised left back or need another centre half do we?

WE WANT SOME HEIGHT!!!!

No further defenders should be signed under 6' in height

I wonder if Cressie may be heading for a second season syndrome with us (assuming he stays), because he hasnt looked quite so assured after his meteoric 1st season with us. This wouldnt surprise me he did struggle to maintain those very impressive standards at this young age ...

Cresswell has been poor so far this season. Maybe his head was turn a bit by the talk of moving to the premiership and now that seems dead he seems to be struggling to get back to the form of last season

At one point we seemed to struggle for full backs now we really need a dominant centre back in the hunter - butcher - de vos - macaulay mould not a defender who is adequate but not given much chance to show full potential by limited appearances.

Who is to say that he is coming as backup to Creswell, that is IF he does come.
Aaron has not made the best of starts to the new season - along with the other ten!
I think it's going to be another long hard season.
Don't expect the team to find any sort of forn untill ten games have been played, especially if we have to gel another four to five players.
Mr Jewell please remember your words that you expressed about the use of loan players at the end of last season. You may have forgotton them, but many fans haven't!

we need backup there, not sure how keen blackpool or the player would be on a loan if he wont play though.

Cresswell has ended last season and began this season under par. We must sign an additional left back for competition if not bring the youngster in.

Yes, Joe Bennet was signed by Aston VIlla, saying that Cressy drop in performance is just so other clubs aren't interested, after the close of the transfer window..... he will be back to his classy self.

A mate of mine I asked about Harris today (a Clyde fan) rates this guy. Not getting a sniff at Blackpool because of Crainey. Would be a decent addition to the squad actually. Nobody will come in for Cresswell - he isn't good enough for the Prem and the jury is still out if he will be good enough at Championship level let's be honest... he has potential. We do need cover.

I don't think it's worth taking such a late punt on a LB when we have Cressy and if necessary Joe Whight can be brought into the equation, 1 or 2 matches here and there would give him some valuble experience, although I'd like to see him sent on loan to maybe League 2/Conference until January when he could come back and push!
