Town Linked With New St Ledger Move
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 15:21

Town are reported to have renewed their interest in Leicester City central defender Sean St Ledger.

The Blues were close to landing the Republic of Ireland international in January before the Foxes pulled the plug on the switch.

Now, Town boss Paul Jewell is said to be ready to make a new move for the former Peterborough and Preston man.

St Ledger, who is 5ft 11in tall, was transfer-listed by Leicester following a row with manager Nigel Pearson after he was omitted from their side taking on the Blues on Boxing Day, but subsequently regained a place in their side.

However, his only appearance so far this season came in the 4-2 Capital One Cup defeat to Burton Albion on Tuesday.

The Birmingham-born defender signed a three-year deal at Leicester last summer after making a £1.2 million move from Preston, having started his career with Peterborough and having had a loan spell at Middlesbrough during his five years at Deepdale.

St Ledger has been capped 30 times by Ireland, scoring three goals, and was a regular in their side at Euro 2012.

Meanwhile, Jordan Rhodes has completed his switch from Huddersfield to Blackburn.

Whilst I think this would be a good signing, if Simon Clegg is reading this, Simon please find out what his wages are and if they are way beyond our structure and there is no compromise, please move on to the next target. Please validate this state of play as St ledger and Leicester have messed us around once already and there is precious little time left to close deals.
