Taylor Terms Agreed
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 20:10

Town are understood to have agreed personal terms with Peterborough United striker Paul Taylor and the 24-year-old looks set to sign for the Blues well before Friday night's deadline.

The Liverpudlian was at Portman Road yesterday along with fellow Posh player George Boyd to undergo a medical and discuss a personal terms but returned to Cambridgeshire without agreeing to sign.

However, as reported earlier, the deal always looked likely to be revived and after further talks today, Taylor is set to join Paul Jewell's squad.

According to reports elsewhere a deal which could ultimately be worth £2.5 million, presumably after numerous top-ups, has been agreed with the London Road club for Taylor, although this has not been confirmed by either club.

Earlier in the week a fee - perhaps only an initial payment - somewhere in the region of £1.75 million to £2 million was agreed for both Taylor and Boyd, the majority believed to relate to the former.

We understand that Boyd is keen to join Taylor at Portman Road, however, his much higher wages remain a significant stumbling block.

Boyd can do one, well happy with super Murphy on the left!!! Get bramble back on loan and a natural right-back & I'll be happy to see the back of this transfer window!!!

2.5 million why on earth would we pay that he has a year left on his contract and he is a average player at best this is not a good signing at all !!!!!!

seems like a lot of money for someone with only a year left on his contract . would have preferred Boyd - hope he is worth it , not sure where this leaves Chops though ?

Not the tall centre forward that we're after but Taylor is a quality player with bags of pace. Dunno if we will be able to afford Boyd wages but he would be the icing on the cake if we could get him. All we need now is another CB, St Ledger would do nicely!!

I don't why but why do i get the feeling we may go and seal Boyd too now? We may not offer much more than we did in wages but it says that Boyd is keen to join Taylor...you never know but i'm not getting hyped for it.

Boro fans reckoned he was the better of the 2 last season, but am I reading that right 2.5M in total for him? if so that sounds excessive!

Cant get excited about any recent signings, perhaps ive been spoilt over the years the players we use to sign always improved he team and squad. Now days all read is fans saying he's worth a punt. I thought the Manager his staff and scouts are supposed to know talent when they see it and improve the player and build a team. All hear now is we are in need of 4 or 5 players this hfas been going on too many seasons. The Burley years was a rollercoaster but an exciting one. Big Joe done a fantastic job with very limited money. As for the last 3 i cant see the fans demanding a statue outside the ground to honor them. I been so lucky to see town through the golden years when it was easy to be a town fan, i just feel sorry for the youngsters who have no heros and a club to be proud of.

Get the feeling Boyd is being done too, these boys are great friends and have the same agent, getting one will secure the other i'm sure.

£2.5 MILLION THAT HAS TO BE FOR BOTH PLAYERS SURELY. Also I wont go back on what I've posted earlier, I dont think we should sign these 2 as they have held the club to ransom. More like Murphy please, players that want to play for I.T.F.C and not just a paycheck. I hope I'm proven very wrong and have to come on here and appologeticaly retract this statement as they have won us promotion and we could'nt do without them, we will have to wait and see. COYB

Oh happy days. maybe just maybe we can get a few signings before the window quietly closes. It does not slam! If Mr Boyd can put pen to paper and a CB it will have been a good window. We do not break the bank on transfers eg Leeds,Portsmouth,Coventry but we do need to show ambition,it's a fine line between success and ruin. 2-0 v Huddersfield. Up the Town

Good! Come on George surely you don't want to be playing on that cabbage patch pitch in that tin pot stadium with no fan base for another 9 months!

This is the important signing to my mind (assuming it goes through). By all accounts GB has gone off the boil last couple of seasons. This guy will give us some much needed pace up front and someone who will run at defences.
