Taylor Terms Agreed
Thursday, 30th Aug 2012 20:10

Town are understood to have agreed personal terms with Peterborough United striker Paul Taylor and the 24-year-old looks set to sign for the Blues well before Friday night's deadline.

The Liverpudlian was at Portman Road yesterday along with fellow Posh player George Boyd to undergo a medical and discuss a personal terms but returned to Cambridgeshire without agreeing to sign.

However, as reported earlier, the deal always looked likely to be revived and after further talks today, Taylor is set to join Paul Jewell's squad.

According to reports elsewhere a deal which could ultimately be worth £2.5 million, presumably after numerous top-ups, has been agreed with the London Road club for Taylor, although this has not been confirmed by either club.

Earlier in the week a fee - perhaps only an initial payment - somewhere in the region of £1.75 million to £2 million was agreed for both Taylor and Boyd, the majority believed to relate to the former.

We understand that Boyd is keen to join Taylor at Portman Road, however, his much higher wages remain a significant stumbling block.

Been refreshing the main page every 5mins hoping that I will read "Boyd terms agreed" as well. I still think (and hope) that we'll get him as well.Taylor, Chopra and Boyd would certainly be fearsome going forward!

I'm really pleased to hear this news, I just hope that Georgie Boyd changes his mind, as he alongside Paul Taylor could be stars at ITFC, and could well help us to reach the play offs or even better, we really do need to get a good solid Centre Back though, fingers crossed for plenty of good news tomorrow then we can really look forward to being at Portman Road Saturday.

This could be a good signing as we do need another striker as I am not convinced Ronan Murry is going to make it at this level. Chopra, Scotland, Taylor - should be a few goals there.

Okay let's get it done!

When you think about it - two players being represented by the same agent and the window so close to closing, coupled with our last two results the agent was bound to pull our pants down over this deal. If we hadn't left all this to the last minute we wouldn't be scrapping around linked to everyone we had looked at over the last 2 years. I can understand tinkering at this stage but again we are almost involved in a full rebuild and another season slips by whilst it all gels, I'm
Pretty sick of the same problems year after year - where is the learn?

Murphy is solid and there is a lot to be said about his character wanting to be here, although maybe uninspiring he does a job so welcome back. Would like to see tomorrow close with at least a CB as a must but after all our departures we really could do with 3/4 players to have a decent enough squad to finish top half.

We have the Rhodes bonus, I was looking forward to seeing him saturday but the way we defend he would have ruined us so it's probably a good thing.

Of the two we have the right one as Boyd has been ordinary since his Forest failure.
I have a pal who saw him v. Millwall recently and he looked poor although to be fair he scored a good goal. It didn't take Forest long to send him back from his loan spell and the thing with Taylor is if Martin does not sign a new deal he can play in the hole behind our lone striker. At least things look a bit brighter tonight than last night just hope we have spent the right money for Taylor and not £2.5m - surely not. Now for a powerful centre back please.
