Jewell: Loanee Situation Not Ideal
Monday, 8th Oct 2012 16:43

Town boss Paul Jewell has admitted that the loan situation is not ideal but says he needs to bring in experienced players rather than “younger, hungry” signings until the Blues’ league position is more secure. The additions of Richie Wellens, DJ Campbell and Bilel Mohsni late last week took the total of loanees to seven.

Jewell told the club site: “Bringing in loans is not ideal, I know that, but it’s the situation we find ourselves in.

"We’re not flush with millions of pounds to just go out and spend on whoever we want.

“We keep talking about this being a long-term project, though I know that doesn’t wash with a lot people and I understand that.

“We’d like to go with younger, hungry players, but until we can get a foothold in this division and move forward to a stronger position, we have to go with experience.”

Meanwhile, Portman Road hasn't made the short-list of 2015 rugby World Cup venues, despite "an initial conversation" having taken place.

18mts later we hear the same bull s..t.If we were in the bottom 3 with a team of kids for the future I might give jewell a chance. All we are doing is getting loan players fit and ready to go back to their clubs when loan time is up.Jewell has lost the plot and is doing exactly what he said he wont do.He will play hyam and carson and anisley when we are in s..t street and end up ruining thoses lads. Its been a farce since the start when our team was not ready and you get what you deserve.

It's all an ongoing farce, organised chaos, clueless nonsence. How's this for a P J quote, 'We have the International break to get the new loaners fit,' that is extracting the urine, he started with Wellens and Campbell on saturday. If loaners or Ipswich players are not match fit IMO they are not available to play, it's slowly driving me up the wall, the drivel coming out is starting to get creepy.

If we need experience from loans then why is a Spurs teenager on the pitch for some of the game and an experienced on loan midfielder at this level spotted outside the stadium as N'Daw was?
Foothold? We have only lost it since Jewell arrived! Keane made a mess but he did at least manage a foothold.

I like Jewell as a person, and seems like a decent bloke. But what I can't stand is him coming out time after time talking the same old drivel. Stop insulting our intelligence Jewell and tell it how it is for once, he needs to wake up and realize how bad a situation we are actually in!

It's interesting reading comments on here from so called experts, wonder if these experts were the same people that called for Jim and Joe to go? when at the time Town were playing decent football! and looking a decent top 10 side.

How times have changed we are a laughing stock now rubbish football team and fair weather fans. So come experts who do you want to replace Jewell when his sacked after the game at hull?

Get behind the team not the manager

He must realise how ridiculous he sounds doing a 360 degree u-turn on the start of the summer????

Not flush with millions, wouldnt he of known that at the start of the summer???

Long term project??? What like bringing in thirty somthings for a month???

Perhaps if he had signed the young hungry players at the start of summer like the club should have done, we would have hd the foothold he talks about.

Of course getting in experienced loan players last year worked a treat!!

“We'd like to go with younger, hungry players, but until we can get a foothold in this division and move forward to a stronger position, we have to go with experience.”

Please can someone remind this idiot that Naaaarrich had this fantastic idea too... brought in loads of loan players with "experience" (experience of picking up fat pay cheques) and subsequently got relegated. Most loan players couldnt give a toss, have no pride in wearing the shirt and know they would be going back to their club when it all goes tits up. What is going on at our club, this idot has got to go!

Perhaps its us fans who pay his wages need the reality cheque??... totally pissed off and rant over.

I don't really care who manages Town as long as they get the best out of the players at their disposal, I truly believe now that after the time Jewell has been afforded he should know how we set up for each game, his best XI and have a plan B and C sat on the bench, players should have tactics drilled into them at training but when you have as many loan players as we have and constant tinkering with the team it becomes a team full of strangers, it takes time and continuity to form a good team, you need a good mixture of youth and experience and a solid backbone to the team, we have none of these, ok we may have played ok against Brighton and for an hour against Cardiff but when all is said and done we got 1 point from 6, and these are supposed to be encouraging performances. He is tactically inept, he doesn't know his best line up, he constantly tinkers not only with the team but the whole squad, short term loans, young hungry players sat on the bench week in week out(if they aren't good enough get rid of them) the list of shortcomings is endless, it really is time to go Mr Jewell before it is too late.

Does anyone ever consider another possibility for this latest influx of loanees? Eg that Clegg/Evans continual failure to close deals on Jewells primary long term targets? The number of loanees under TWO managers and totally under Evans ownership is approaching 80 players in 5 years.

Maybe this current situation is not all down to Jewell! But he may well lose his job.soon too...roll out the next manager and the cycle to begin all over again.

What chioce does Mr Jewel have. He identifies players and then we offer a pittance in transfer plus wages and they go elsewhere. Loans are the only options with a hope of a couple who are not wanted maybe signing at a knockdown price in Jan.
The club has no financial clout. We are seriously in debt. Mr Evans is making money nicely, 25% of income goes to service a debt that was purchased at a knock down rate.
The sooner the moaners understand we cannot compete in the transfer market anymore the better. We will finish at our level 15th again. The top 6 sides are beind seriously bankrolled we are not.
The late great Bobby Robson wouldn't be able compete on this budget. I think you all need to get into the real world. Changing the manager will simply give more of the same!!

blue moon09 - spot on with Joe & Jim comments..if only ME had backed Jimbo the way he's backed the last 2 clowns....

No point in us questioning the players that Jewell has/hasn't brought in..I wouldn't trust him with Barcelona's squad.

On paper we've got a decent first 18..the problem is that we have a man & coaching team in charge who are totally inept at their jobs....our idiot owner isn't helping the situation either..he's obviously big chums with Jewell or else he would've got shot of him a couple of weeks ago.

Jewell must realise he's pushing the fans patience to the absolute limit...to come out almost boasting on Saturday evening that the owner had had a 20 minute chat with him after the game and told him to carry on was unbelievably embarrassing and just downright bloody insulting to our intelligence.

I did like Jewell even though I wanted him gone ages ago...I am now starting to dislike him more and more by the day...the same goes for our owner.

Lightningboy - Did not Evans give Magilton the best part of £12 million to spend? And did he not waste huge amounts of it vastly overpaying for the likes of Norris?

Joe Royle was the last decent manager this club had and had he been given a quarter of the money wasted by Magilton Keane and Jewell we would have been promoted years ago!

Lightningboy added 21:12 - Oct 8
RegencyBlue - he did give Magilton £12m to spend..yeah £2.5 went on Norris but Norris was always good for 10 goals a season..we haven't had a midfielder here who can score goals since he left..ok,maybe Bullard.

Plus we were defensively sound under Jim..I can't recall too many hidings like we've had under Jewell.

Plus Magilton always had us in or around the play-off places during the season..think we finished 14th,8th & 9th in his 3 seasons?...The problem was that he wasn't Evans's appointment..Evans thought he knew best - he didn't.

I'd have Magilton back tomorrow.
